Those are the most generic talents ever, why would I want to watch this garbage when there are other contest shows that are specifically about singing and dancing?

When I watch this shit, I want to see motherfuckers do shit I've never seen before, find me some sketchy looking dude who can juggle flaming chainsaws blindfoled not some 8 year old Asian girl who can sing slow pop songs

How is this garbage so fucking popular?

Because there isn't much of a market for a chain saw juggler. Sure it's fun to see every now and then but more people like music and dance. There is more variety. He can only juggle so many different ways. It is a talent but when you rely on a vote system like that variety and familiarity will win out.

But again, why would you want to keep around for generic talent like singing and dancing when there are other contest shows that the designed specifically for singing and dancing?

Why wouldn't you prefer to see people with actual unique and interesting talents?

I'm assuming because it's more profitable and marketable. Women are told from an early age that singing and dancing are one of the few women appropriate activities. I think the fact that women tend to focus on shows displaying that has to do more with society than any real gender difference.
