Poll of the Day > I've had the most college week of my life this week. lemme tell you about it.

I am fully aware none of you care. just let me blog and move along.

So the week before school starts is my university's welcome week. Prizes, games, student organization activities, music, free food, etc etc. It's an eight-day thing, sunrise to past sundown, and occasionally carries on after-hours to someone's house or a bar or whatever. I wasn't planning on doing anything this week because I'm kinda too lame for after-parties and most of the on-campus stuff is for incoming freshmen. But it ended up being pretty lit.

Saturday (of last week):
I've been digging on this girl I really need to get over, Maggie. She moved into town this day and we went out for some burgers and milkshakes. This day wasn't particularly "turnt" or anything, but it was a really nice day with a good friend and it made me hopeful for the semester and stuff :) This day I actually missed a small house-warming party I was invited to, but I actually think I preferred what I was already doing. It was a good time.

Sunday:
I got drunk alone in my apartment, and watched a h*ck of a lot of X-Files and Clone Wars. This was by far the worst day, but I managed to get a lot done, like paying for my classes finally, and buying textbooks and doing laundry and taking out the trash and stuff.

Monday:
The day of the eclipse! I had to work early this week, but I got out at 10 AM. Maggie was there when I got out, and we went to see the partial eclipse. We got pieces of cardboard and cut them into the shape of Texas, and then made a little hole where our college town is, and sat at a bench for a few hours waiting for the peak time to see our eclipse shadows. My friend David saw us and joined and it was good fun. We freaked out during the eclipse and had a silly time. my snapchat was full of silly that day. We all headed down to the student center and I took a nap while the two of them watched Yuri on Ice. Then when I woke up we all sat through the entire first season of My Hero Academia. David left the student center at 10ish, and I walked Maggie to her apartment, and then she gave me a ride home. Except that the ride became really personal and we shared a lot and it turned into us driving around for a solid four hours and tears were shed and stuff. She took me out to Denny's for some 3 AM pancakes and it was honestly a 9.5/10 night.

Tuesday:
By the time I got home it was time for me to wake up and start getting ready for work, so this day started off real rough. Like, it totally absolutely sucked. But you know, I powered through and met up with David a few hours after work ended, and then me, him, and four or five of our other friends had a small get-together. Lots of drinks were drunk, and my friend Mace threw up everywhere, and he threatened to kill himself, and overall it was quite the night. It was stupid, but some other pals of ours called at about 2 AM and asked us to pick them up from a bar, so we tipsy-drove across town to pick them up and then took them home and somewhere along the way I fell asleep. Everyone lived though, so all went well.

Wednesday:
Again, I had work in the morning so I had to wake up in like 4 hours. this day was actual shit. I was hungover, everything hurt, I hadn't slept well in a while, and for a lot of reasons I was just... sad. I called Maggie and she came to school and kept me company while I died internally. David joined in later, and then we saw the second season of MHA. Again, sorta late at night, David went home, so I walked Maggie to her place. I asked her not to drive me home, though, because I wanted to be alone and I was just not having all that great of a day. I mean, I really really enjoyed hanging out with her and David all day, but still I was having one of those "haha why am I existing" sort of days and I didn't want to bum her out so I walked home and it took me about 90 minutes.

Thursday:
Crap day. I slept in. I no-showed for my counseling appointment, and then called and said I wouldn't be going to them anymore. I kinda regret doing this now, but eh. I also called into work and said I was sick and couldn't come in. I stayed in bed until about 4 in the afternoon. Then I started to cry for some reason so I went to school to see if any of my friends were hanging out. They weren't so I cried for about an hour in a closet and then I went home. I was feeling real crappy, but then my friendgroup got together and went out for tacos, and even though it wasn't all that significant, it made me feel a lot better. I got a phone call that night from my "big" and he asked me out to dinner on Sunday, which is an important tradition that I sorta thought he had forgotten about. My friends and I spent the night playing MegaMan and Street Fighter, and the day ended a lot better than it started. Also, I was invited to a big party this weekend, and I literally never get invited anywhere so that's legit.

Friday:
I slept in yesterday until about noon. Slightly hungover, but mostly just because I didn't have much going on early on. My roommate for the year, Ben, moved in. He's okay I guess. Likes the temp to be real cold. I had a meet-and-greet for one of my organizations, and I met about 13-15 freshmen at it. They all seem nice, and it made me hopeful for the year. After that, I got together with Maggie and David, and we went to a karaoke night thing that was going on at school. There was a girl there who was sitting all alone, so I went up to talk to her, and she was good! We got along well, and I introduced her to some people and I think I convinced her to join our student org. I hope she does because she was chill af. After that I was planning to walk Maggie home but the storm was brewin' and so we stayed in the basement for a few hours. she fell asleep on my lap while I browsed reddit and stuff. We eventually went home, and even though I told her she shouldn't drive while sleepy, she wouldn't let me walk home in the rain. We had a good talk on the drive there. Not as serious as Monday's, but still really good. I asked her to be my +1 to see Hippo Campus and to Saturday's party, so that's a thing.

Saturday (today):
I had planned to go see Hippo Campus today, but because of Hurricane Harvey, their show was canned. so i just stayed in and enjoyed the storm from my bed today. Maggie and David hung out today, and I guess David also invited Maggie to the party, because we're going as a group now! We're meeting to grab dinner in about two hours, and then getting wasted. It'll hopefully be a good time!!!

Sunday:
I was supposed to work tomorrow, but it was cancelled because of the weather. I'm still having my dinner though, and I'm h*cking hyped about it. I've been looking forward to this dinner for a year now. uhhh probably not much else will happen (I mean, a lot is going to happen at this "dinner", but I'm already expecting that). I'll be out p. much all night, with just enough time to go home, shower, and begin my first day of classes!

also I forgot to add this in, but mimosas have been declared (by me and others) to be the official drink of Hurricane Harvey. 1 mimosa = 1 prayer

I am gonna say this is false. Thursday ended up being a good day, and she wasn't a part of that day. And Wednesday sorta sucked, but I spent that day with her.

so the party was way better than I expected it to be.

David and Maggie had spent the day together with some of their friends who aren't really my friends, and by the time I called Mag to see if she was ready to go to the party, she was hesitant. She has social anxiety so I told her she didn't have to go and it was literally no big deal, but she decided to come anyway. So she came to pick me up and we drove around for a while, and then we picked up David, and we all went to eat some chicken strips. At the chicken place I ran into a freshman girl I met this week, and she recognized me but I didn't know who she was so I felt bad.

So anyway we went to the party, and I got a bit drunk. Maggie was going to drive me home in a few hours, so she wasn't quite as drunk, but also she's a lot smaller than I am and she took a few shots and I made her at least one drink, so we were having a good time. David is actually a popularish person, so he was off doing cool party things. Maggie told me she was going to follow me around because she felt weird, so I told her we could just sit and enjoy the party from a loveseat. so that's what we did.

My friendgroup is very touchy and cuddly when sober, so when drunk it's just like a pile of people. our sitting spot became sort of a hotspot for people, and we got loved on for pretty much the whole night. i don't remember too much else though, tbh. some guys who weren't invited came and there was drama but i wasn't involved. I met and hung out for a while with a girl named Kayla, and we are snapchat friends and I guess we snapped each other throughout the night. Also I got to take part in a fun university tradition thing and it made me really happy.

so the night eventually wound down, and Maggie was going to take David and I home, but we also took a girl named Molly with us because it was hardcore raining and she had been drinking. And just as we were about to leave, this guy Josh got into some kind of argument with the host of the party and he was yelling at her and being a creep so we offered to take him home, too. so yeah we took Molly home and then Josh and then David. and then Maggie and I did our usual thing of taking the longest possible route to my apartment so we can have good friendship talk time. then we got to my place and we sat through the storm (which is getting way more intense every hour btw) and looked at it through her sunroof. I fell asleep in the car, and when I woke up she had put on a blanket on me lol. so i woke her up and told her to go and she did and it was a good night and worth the hangover.


In about two hours I'm going to have that important traditional dinner thing, and I'm probably going to write a lot about that tonight or tomorrow night.

This has been such a wild week. wild wild week.

oh i didn't even really mention why it was such a good party. I'm never invited to parties, and I was hella nervous I was going to be awkward as h*ck, but people actually seemed to like me being there, and I made a lot of conversation, even with people I'd never met before. I understand they were all drunk and stuff, but I was sorta surprised how many people there even knew my name.

Also it was supposed to be a "back to school" party, but it was also a hurricane party, so we were taking shots ever time a school district cancelled classes, or every time we'd all get phone alerts for flooding in our area.

The drive home was actually really rough.

Houston is having major issues. Galveston probably won't even exist in a few hours. it's wild.
