A few on CE didn't believe me when I said I was abused a few weeks back just for asking a customer how she was at the start of a transaction at my register. She thinks a clerk saying "hi, how are you?" Is rude because "you don't care how I am!" Etc. *shrugs*

She went through the register behind me and when my co-worker said "hey, how are you?" She screamed "you don't know me! How dare you ask me how I am?!"

Is this woman officially just a head case with no life?

Next time she comes in, you should make a point of telling her "I don't know who you are and I don't give a flying fuck about you. If you have the shittiest day in the world, I won't know, and I won't care."

She'll probably flip out again, but at least this time you'll feel like it was a worthwhile exchange. :-P
