Or lack thereof. The fight scenes are getting sloppy and its clear that they didn't know what to do with madam gao and make it not seem obvious they're using quick cuts and stunt doubles to show an old decrepit woman of 80 years fighting or taking a punch.

And it's not just that. The big climactic fight scene that was supposed to be the "New York" of the series, the battle of the chitauri from Avengers 1 good, is either in the dark or completely impossible to follow due to all the quick editing.


I know they can't do a movie budget of millions due to the smaller size of the TV audience but...

The action scenes are always so dark too, you can barely see what's going on. That was one of my main complaints with Daredevil season 2 as well

Essentially, we're a long way from the hallway fight scene in Daredevil 1. That scene was raw and powerful, down to earth. But here they're trying to bring in mystical shit but they don't have the budget for it. I like wire-fu, I really do, but we didn't even get wire-fu for the fight scenes (since I certainly wasn't expecting anything realistic or the caliber of the hallway fight)

And some of the dialogue is some real weak ass shit but I don't know if it's a budgeting thing like them needing to hire better writers.

That last scene with Elektra and Matt going on about darkness and light was straight up wtf. What is this Kingdom Hearts? I mean for god's sake.

That was just... unreal.

The biggest problem with The Defenders: The Japanese Hand guy kept speaking Japanese while everyone else spoke English. To each other. Like wtf? That triggered me. Either all speak English or all speak Japanese.

Several issues:

Fight choreography was garbage

The camerawork and editing was sloppy

The budget, as TC said, is starting to show

The Hand is incredibly weak and poorly written as antagonists. Their motivation didn't make much sense to me. Well I mean it did, but still.

Sigourney Weaver was criminally underused

Most of the actors in The Hand were underused. Bakuto still sucks ass. Nobu Jr was kinda interesting, Gao was cool, Mr. Dies First was aight

The dialogue at points just didn't land at all (someone ITT pointed out the light and darkness dialogue between Matt and Elektra)

Elektra herself for that matter. Firstly, they do a very poor job of explaining what a "Black Sky" is. Then they don't really make it clear... why she does anything she does. She seems to bounce from one extreme to the other. Like she hates the Hand and loves Matt, she hates Matt and takes over the Hand.

I can't help but wonder what it would've been like if Daredevil hadn't gotten a second season so soon. Probably could've saved some money for Iron Fist and The Defenders.
