Yeah BB is def my top game of the gen. It was my first souls experience. When I played through it the first time I kept missing the Cleric Beast and ending up at Father G. I kept dying cause I couldn't LEVEL UP. I was like, daaaaamn, I heard these games are hard but this is INSANE.

I actually gave up on it, and was gonna trade it it, but then a few days later I got home from a night of drinking and played till sunrise, figured it out and was HOOKED. Ended up getting the plat and everything.

Yes. Way different than the open world epics like that, but its spectacular. The gothic world and level design is captivating, gameplay is amazingly satisfying, vast majority of boss fights are spectacular, lore is tremendous if you're into it, DLC is phenomenal

Played through it a month ago; felt like another Souls game to me. I mean, it was good, and I like the Souls' games, but it didnt really stand out as the best like I see a lot of people say. Guess it just depends on how many other Souls' games you've played and how you view the series.

It stands out enough. No shields, much more quick and aggressive combat, finally a different setting, etc.

If this is your first experience with a souls game, that 9 gig patch took less time than the old, unpatched load times would have cost you with constant deaths.

But I'm guessing it included the old hunters DLC. Which I would highly recommend if you find yourself addicted to the game.

I think the main draws for it are the Nightmarish horror/Lovecraftian style setting and the faster paced gameplay. I'm personally not sure if I'd say it's the best game of it's kind, but I can see where other people come from in praising it.

This. I've played through the series, love em all. I like BB because it incentivizes to you play aggressively. It rewards you more on the risk scale, vs some of the other souls games where it requires self-restraint. Both equally strategic, but in different ways.

BB has really ruined my attempts at getting the plat in DS2. My character with the most progress towards it was done as a tank, so heavy armor, weapon, and great shield. Stats mostly in str, hp, vit, and end. And it is so hard to go back to the tank and spank method after so much time being aggressive and shieldless. I know I can respec, but then I don't have any weapons/armor leveled up to use.

Bloodborne is tied with Dark Souls for my favorite of the "series".

I kinda prefer BB's faster combat. It makes the boss battles substantially more visceral.

Great game, enjoy

If it's your first "souls" game the only advice I'll give you is to not take the deaths personally. You're going to die a lot so just roll with it. Oh and spend your extra blood after leveling up on blood vials (the healing item) so you don't have to farm them in case you ever run out.

Isn't the world record like 42 minutes or some shit?

Mine was like 58 minutes on NG++. That's a substantial gap in a speedrun, and honestly it's not THAT impressive once you're good, geared, and know the fights. In any case, it was back at launch.

I would avoid waste of skin, and the ones that have highest arcane or bloodtinge for now. Starting class really only matters if you are a minmaxer.

I don't share Mr_Biscuits level of zeal about the game, I'll just say TC you already must be comfortable with things attacking you from places your aren't able to attack them from. And being comfortable with being done in with 2 swings from an enemy.
