I'm watching Gantz: 0 on Netflix and there's this blatantly sexualized character with boobs that take center frame and jiggle comically in otherwise serious moments. It completely destroys any immersion I hoped to have. It's a cool concept for a movie and all, but fuck the guy that did this.

Anyway, fanservice is pretty much one of the only reasons anime is still popular. You take that away, and the audience is gone.

I mean, you don't have to agree that it's the biggest reason for anime's popularity, but anybody who says that fanservice isn't a large part of anime's appeal is just lying to make themselves feel better.

it's too tongue-in-cheek to not be a satire

the other characters are constantly pointing out the excessive uniform (and commenting on how big her boobs are), and a major plot point was ryuko learning to not be ashamed of the nudity

the title of the second episode is "so sexy she might pass out"

the antagonist's uniform, also excessively revealing, is literally called "purity" and was intended to be her wedding dress

meanwhile the men's uniforms cover them completely from head to toe

hell, it's even lampshaded by the name of the revolutionary group

Cowboy Bebop (Probably the only anime I can go back, rewatch, and genuinely enjoy)

Ghost in the Shell
Serial Experiments Lain
FLCL
Big O
Code Geass

I'm sure there's more, but that's what I remember off the top of my head. Trying to go back and rewatch most of these is painful to me. I must have watched too much of it, because anime tropes just cause my eyes to begin rolling in my skull. To be fair, I don't watch much regular TV either, as I find that mind numbing as well.

Pretty much the only shows that aren't political talk shows or Adult Swim cartoons that I watch are, Better Call Saul, Legion, and Preacher.

every anime has some girls who blush and some embrace their gigantic boobs

it is cliche even now to point it out

only a few anime break away from the trope like JoJo which is basically a ton of super muscled men and almost no women

except they basically made so many "satire" animes that make in fun of anime that it is basically its own genre at this point

and most of them aren't very good

but they do got the big boobs

so when you say "hey I am going to be satire of anime!"
but you actually wind up being like the most popular anime and tons of other ones

you really can't consider it satire

that is a bandwagon
