I never thought of this before, but the 2nd floor is split. As in, the part that connects to the foyer, which is the part with the bedrooms, doesn't connect to the main 2nd floor hallway, where the bathroom is. That means, if you wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, your closest one is to go downstairs, through the foyer, then all the way through the hallway on the 1st floor.

But I guess if it's designed for ghosts they can just walk through the walls.

unrelated but luigi's mansion was such a great game. there were definite gameplay and difficulty flaws but the concept, design, and overall personality of the game were very well done. it's too bad that the sequel missed the mark so much and failed to capture what made the first game so good

Never played the second one, but yeah, the original was a lot of fun. There are two things from the game I'll never forget: the big boo boss, can't remember the name, and the part in the game with the blackout where you had to find a specific ghost hidden somewhere in the mansion, while also having to find the breaker box to turn the lights back on.

Imagine my disappointment when Mario Sunshine finally came out...

Actually I agree, I definitely preferred Luigi's Mansion to Sunshine. I honestly never finished Sunshine. I think I made it to about 50 sprites.

luigi's mansion has cool atmosphere for sure but my biggest issue with it is just how slow everything is. Cutscenes, long walks through mostly empty hallways with slow movement speed, hunting down a gazillion boos... it all just starts to grate on your nerves and is the main reason I'll never do a second playthrough

I got to about the 15th play through lol. I always hated the end boos, with 300 health. Suck 40 hp, warp into the adjacent room, suck 40 hp, repeat. The worst was the basement where they would warp into the generator room, and you would have to go all the way around, through the dust room, to get another 40 hp.
