I don't believe Hurricane Harvey is God's punishment for Houston electing a lesbian mayor, but that is more credible than "climate change."

She's not blaming gays for the huuricane, she's using the concept of blaming gays to illustrate how strongly she disbelieves in climate change.

Which, to be clear, is still an exceptionally stupid position

she used blaming gays as a comparison point for how false she thinks climate change is, which is kind of the opposite of blaming them

agreed

idk why we have to be black and white on this. it's still a shitty position but shittier positions exist and the one being ascribed to her is much shittier than her shitty position is

it's important to be accurate with criticisms

otherwise people stop listening to the criticisms

Darkman seems like a rational person, but that's only because he's projecting the civility and dignity of the way society used to be, which doesn't exist anymore. He hasn't caught on yet that the only way to keep the Overton Window from rolling over us is to push back against it as hard as possible. Ain't no patience for mewling and nuance, all that hem hawing didn't get Hilldog elected.

It doesn't make sense to give her the benefit of the doubt due to the way it was phrased, because why was it ever phrased that way at all? There's a million ways she could have said "I don't believe in climate change" that didn't involve her saying that she had a comparatively easier time believing in divine punishment for homosexuality.

She said it that way for a reason; because she knows a conservative base will rally behind a double whammy of hating gays and disavowing climate change. It's just a shitty appeal from a shitty person to shitty people phrased in a way that gives her the ability to go "W-Well I didn't say I believed in it!!!" And that almost makes it worse, because regardless of whether or not she believes it she's peddling the idea for attention and normalizing it.

You ain't caught on yet

Truth doesn't matter and won't matter ever again. All that matters is narrative.

Do you think anyone in this topic other than you cares more about truth than shitting on the other side?

You gotta break bread with the way things are now

Stop virtue signaling with all this nuance shit and push back against the dog whistles they putting out.

nobody is defending her by the way
you're all not comprehending this correctly

we want you to point the right thing out
the main thing here is not that she thinks gay people caused hurricane harvey - she explicitly says she does not.

the main thing here is to say that climate change isn't real.

you're right in that she definitely framed this to get attention and have it misconstrued
so why are you playing into her hands

Dayumn y'all jokers are gullible af

Read between the lines and consider the subtext and how her followers are gonna interpret it

Knock it off with this literalist bullshit like, "But she didn't EXACTLY say this"
