Been researching 'em the past week. They sound like an amazing way to accumulate and share data and keep your ratio flawless on certain sites.

The one I'm looking at is $33/mo which is probably too pricey for the amount I'd use... but with all the security benefits, along with the new Digital Audio Player I'm looking into getting soon, I think it'd be pretty useful.

hi i've used various seedboxes on the 20-plus private torrent sites i use along with a few different VPNs and a bunch of other stuff

$33 is too much for someone who is new to them, i've never paid that much. i currently pay $22 a month for my Whatbox seedbox and prior to that, I paid $15 a month. the seedbox is a great way to maintain ratio and anonymity, but if you are looking at seriously contributing to the top private sites, it's not enough on its own to carry you to a good ratio and a lot of buffer, since a lot of users use them.

I don't need to seriously contribute, I just wanted to get a decent enough ratio that I never again have to worry about being Ratio Watched on waffles ever again. I've also learned how to upload my own torrents so that should help.

well, you definitely don't need to pay $33 a month for what you're looking to do. as i said, i'm at $22 a month for my Whatbox and I have accounts on BTN, PTP, NWCD, WAF, RED, APL, GGn, 32P, MaM, BIB, RFM, SC, XWT, PWT, bB and IPT ... and I don't have anything close to a bad ratio on any of those sites.

Alright yo. Thanks for the info. I'll look into Whatbox. The $33/mo one I was looking at was just the best reviewed by far and seemed like the simplest.

Now, when I have one of these things, I need to download an FTP transfer thing for both my computer and the Seedbox in order to transfer the files, right?

Keep in mind the majority of coverage you'll find for seedboxes and VPNs (including Reddit comments, etc) on the Internet is paid coverage. They recruit dozens of people to sing their praises on piracy forums.

And yeah, you'll have FTP login information from your provider and it's very simple to use. Support is a major factor -- in five years or so, I've opened 12 reports with Whatbox support, and they've always responded in minutes and been more than helpful.

I recommend FileZilla as an FTP client. It's free, updated regularly and has a good reputation. You don't have to do any setting up on the seedbox itself if you're going with a good provider. The one time I needed additional features added to my slot, support did it for me.

Alright so I went with Whatbox due partially to your rec, but then upon seeing that RapidSeedbox wanted me to pay for a whole year up front.

So far I'm liking it. I haven't needed an FTP client because it just lets me download stuff in .Zip form after I've gotten a torrent.

no problem, i'd recommend setting up FTP anyway just for bigger downloads and potentially better speeds. with FTP you can pause, resume, etc.

Sounds like a good plan. I'm annoyed that no one has downloaded anything I'm seeding yet!
