Some people say you need to fork over tons of fucking money to go to a fucking school and other people say you get hired as an apprentice and they pay you to learn, aside from a small amount of schooling for exams which doesnt cost a fortune since you're already making decent cash.

So which is it? Fuck.

So why would anyone take the pure school route?

Not everyone knows someone in a union to help them get in.

Some schools help you get into a union and apprenticeship afterwards, and they'll be more likely to accept you because you won't need to learn a lot of the groundwork. And some companies love to swoop up students from certain schools.

What kind of trades are you talking about because this isn't remotely True about any of the construction trades. They actually prefer to teach you themselves instead of trying to fix all the mistakes the other school made teaching you. I'm a member of a Plumbers and Pipefitters local union that's one of the best in the country ( we win the competitions a lot and we kickass at the softball league too)

Right click the other character and select the "Trade" option. This will send them a trade request, which they can accept if they want to trade with you. If they accept, the trade window will be opened.

Lmfao you can't lie about being a journeyman. It's not just a made up name there are a ton of certifications you have to get through the state. Like for pipefitters all of our welding tests are regulated by the state, and our actual journeyman test is regulated by the state. Unions aren't completely independent of government oversight.

There's a chance of that even if you're certified

We just had 2 guys die in our area because of a freak gas leak that was heavier than air so it filled the pit they were in and killed them both.

Yeah all those years of apprenticeship training make absolutely no difference on your chances of doing something dumb and dying.

That's assuming you make it out of the apprenticeship alive. Many don't.

Know someone. My mom is the co owner of a refrigeration company. That's how I got in.

Not union but started at 21 an hour, full health, one week vacation. Ot is done by day not a 40 hour week. That boosts my paychecks a lot

Oh dude, lots of opportunity there.

Ya, no poin going to school for a trade here. It might help you with getting your foot in the door, but in the two years it takes to complete a program, you'd find a job anyways.

IBEW the electrical union here requirea union companies to hite through the union. Which means your first step is to join IBEW, they usually have two intakes a year. Just gotta keep calling, and trying. This is the most difficult part. Eventually you'll get in though.

Electrician is a great trade. Theyre a dime a dozen over here though. Sometimes getting into a more niche trade is easier.

There's also just being a labourer, nothing wrong with that.
You can check out Liuna the labourers union. Our local is 183 and they always need guys. Plus starting rate 3 months is like $33.

Thanks Mr. Obama. What happens when I call and they accept me? Do they just take me in right away or what? I cant really afford to quit my job unless I can take in a different income right away.
