….Bangor!
It’s Maine’s Queen City of the East! A true gem in our woodland crown of amazingness, and according to various sources, supposedly Maine’s most dangerous city.
According to a study by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bangor ranks among the nation’s safest cities.
Scratching your head yet?
We are too. If Maine’s most dangerous city is one of America’s safest, that says a LOT about this country of ours, and our home state of Maine.
It’s pretty well known that Portland, Lewiston, and specifically Bangor have been facing a range of drug-related issues over the last several years. Bangor has even been called the “Bath Salts Capital of America.“
But underneath the two conflicting superlatives, Bangor is one of Maine’s coolest cities. (not by temperature, though… that title probably belongs to Fort Kent!)

Kind of funny. Thought I'd share. Although, I didn't look at the sources or criteria for "Safest."

The population is not very big there but I don't know if it's a per capita thing or something.

My girlfriend lives in Bangor and is constantly trying to get me to move up there (I'm in Connecticut).

Bangor's a nice place, but it's still basically in the middle of no where.

Lived in Portland for 4 years due to school and have never been north of Freeport. I thought Portland was a small city having been raised in the Greater Philly area - can't imagine what Bangor is like.

Bangor is where people in the actual middle of nowhere go to find civilization and there is not much there. lol.
If I were to move back to Maine I would stick to the southern coastal area. The furthest north I would want to live is Brunswick.
Bangor is way to far away from everything.
