See, now, that's an overreaction. You're telling me you're going to sit Antonio Brown if your team is playing the Steelers?

And hence why you can't care about both. The whole "I hope brown gets 150 3 touchdowns but we still win" is a weak copout

I wanted Fitz to catch that TD at the end of the game when the Cards were down by 18 yesterday.

Does that not make me a Lions fan? lol

I disagree somewhat. I try really hard to not roster division rivals and when I do I am pretty much trying to trade them. But when it comes to players on my fantasy team vs my real team I root for my team to win and my fantasy player to have a really good game.

Like I hate the cowboys and had to draft Dak. So when they play the eagles I am going to root for the Eagles to win 66 to 65. IMO that is better than my old strategy of literally hoping the cowboys team dies in a plane crash because really FUCK THE COWBOUS

are you wishing an opponent has a good game before or after the game happened?

Neither. I'm talking about during. But I'll humor you with an example of my thought process for before and after:

Before: I sure hope the Chiefs win, but I also would like a big day out of Tom Brady.

After: Depends on the results. There's nothing wrong with wanting the best of both worlds. However, one of four scenarios will happen after every game, each with a happiness scale (for me - I'm sure others have different preferences):

1.) Your team (the team you support IRL) wins, and your fantasy player who plays for the opposing team also does well. Happiness level is 10/10.

2.) Your team wins, but your fantasy player for the opposing team does not have a good game. Happiness level is 8.5/10.

3.) Your team loses, but your fantasy player for the opposing team does well. Happiness level is 7/10.

4.) Your team loses AND your fantasy player for the opposing team does not have a good game. Happiness level is 0/10.

As you can see, I am happier if my team wins. But it is not impossible to root for both a good game from your fantasy player AND a win for the team you support.

You and I both know that nothing I say or do will change the impact of anything that happens on the field. We just have to accept what happens. And as you can see, as long as any of scenarios 1-3 happen, I'm happy. Just because my team loses, doesn't mean my happiness level goes down to zero. After all, if my team lost and I had no player on the opposing team, I'd have a happiness level of zero anyways, so what's wrong with salvaging a loss by at least getting some good points from an opposing team's player?

Why would I try when you need to jump through 34 hoops to justify rooting for your opponent to do well before the game starts because you don't want to admit you can't root for both equally and start your opponents and division rivals because they are conflicting interest. And rather than admit that fact, you instead play mental gymnastics

Because you didn't acknowledge a single aspect of my previous post (#228) and instead went on to say I play in some stupid-ass league (that probably doesn't even exist) where people can change players after the game starts.

I should be asking myself why I'm going through your mental gymnastics of finding any possible way to avoid the actual topic at hand as opposed to simply replying to my argument points.

Spin all you want, it's a "huge" dilemma in terms of quantity of people affected, not "huge" as in some life-altering problem with no solution. As I've said repeatedly, it's not hard. I'm sure there are people out there who can't separate the two worlds, but speaking on a personal level, I can.

You and I both know you're the attention-seeking clown here.

Yes, it's a "huge dilemma" like rush hour traffic is - it affects millions of people, but for most, it's little more than just a common nuisance.

It's not a "huge dilemma" like the Equifax breach. Not only does it affect millions of people, but the impact is identity threat, which is a serious problem. Trying to figure out which sports team to root for is not a serious problem.

The Buffalo Bills can run the ball well, and once Charles Clay inevitably dies, that is all they will be able to do. Passing plays will be Tyrod Taylor moving about the pocket, rolling out, desperately searching for an open receiver that will only ever be LeSean McCoy in the flat.
I have no comments on the defense, other than that it performed adequately against the Jets.

You don't even realize how badly this destroys your own argument is the beauty of the statement.

I root for 1 team and only 1 team. Fantasy is a supplement to football that can make it even better, but I will always care, by a gigantic margin, over the actual results over any fantasy implications.

Like in week 1 my fantasy opponent had hunt, I at no point started rooting against hunt. I was happy that not only the kid had a great game but that it meant we saw the pats lose the season opener with everyone watching. I was never wanting Howard to get plays away from Cohen because I wanted those PPR catches on him. I was upset with 40 pass attempts to 18 rush attempt since it contributed to losing a winnable game for the lowly bears.

I misspoke. I didn't mean picking a sports team like the Pats or the Packers or the Steelers or whoever. I meant picking between your sports team vs. your fantasy team. The assumption here is that everyone already has their one sports team. For me it's the Chiefs. For you it's whoever your team is. And as I mentioned in post #228, I also am happier if the Chiefs win and my fantasy team loses, as opposed to the Chiefs losing and my fantasy team winning.

Having said that, you're doing a really good job at picking just one sentence fragment from every post to rebut, as opposed to taking on the entire post, which is what I've been doing for you.

I Like Toast posted...

This is scenario 4 in post 228. Your real team lost and your fantasy team (I assume) lost too. Saying you're happy for the rookie is nothing more than a cop-out to keep you from saying you had a shitty football week across the board. Plus, it's implied that everyone's happy for the rookie - who wouldn't be?

You're allowed to be upset that Hunt wouldn't stop scoring points (fantasy), while also being happy for him that his NFL debut was such a success (real). As I've been saying, it's possible to keep the two separate.

I'm trying to dissect your situation here and the point you're trying to make - I assume you had Howard because nobody knew about Cohen until the game actually happened (I also didn't watch the game, all I know is that this Cohen cat was really good). So, assuming you have Howard, you would be upset that Cohen is snaking carries...

I don't get the situation here
