Like, will it just outright replace my TV's speakers at all times? Or will I need to configure every device to recognize the sound bar?

I got one and just turned my sound on the TV all the way down and only use the bar for audio.

I didn't do anything special. It just plugs into the TV and works. Much better quality sound. As long as it plays audio from your TV it will play audio from you consoles.

Connect console to TV

Connect sound bar to TV

(Usually) turn TV volume all the way down so you don't get double audio

You just set it to your tv and the audio takes care of itself as long as the tv is the hub to your video and console devices.

Only time you set up the sound bar is in a surround system with a centralized audio control like a AV receiver. In this case, sound bar is the center speaker.

Oh, that is good to know! Now to find a nice one. :u I'm getting fed up with the sound from my TV's speakers. The audio balance is shit. Music and background noises are always blaring, and you can barely hear people speaking. I've had to watch everything with subtitles.

I mean you can probably change that in the TV's settings but it's not a bad idea to upgrade anyway.

I would suggest going all in and getting a surround system if you have the money to spare. Nothing compares to it.

Trust me, I've tried that. None of the sound settings help with it. :/ Think it is just a problem with the TV model. The reviews said the same thing, great screen but sucky sound. I didn't think it'd be this bad though.

But sounds (hahaha) like a sound bar would fix the problem then. Don't think I'm a big enough audiophile for a surround system though. I just want clear audio and don't want wires running all over the damn place.

I mean it's not for everyone but it's a big difference that you don't have to be an audiophile to appreciate. It's like going from standard definition to 4K.

It particularly enhances action games with lots of stuff going on. Battlefield being the best example. But if you're just watching regular dramas and comedies then it doesn't really do anything.
