In addition to my planned midnight release for the SNES Classic I've also been to a midnight release of Super Smash Brothers Brawl and DS, Pokemon Sun, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

I think Halo 3 was the last video game one I went to.

For movies...probably Revenge of the Sith.

Movies, plenty of times. Video games, I only went to a Halo Reach release at Gamestop with a buddy. They did a Halo 3 tournament while everyone waited.

Movies more than I can remember.

Games, I went to launch of the Wii at the Nintendo Store in NYC. It sucked. Literally just stood on line in the freezing cold with a bunch of goons, they handed you bag after waiting for hours and then you left. That was it. Never again for a console launch.

However, SNES classic is a different situation, camping out is necessary which changes everything.

No, but the closest was The World's End that was a Thursday evening thing instead of a midnight deal.

Never for a video game, but many many movies.

Off the top of my head Green Lantern, Avengers, Dark Knight Rises, Harry Potter DH Part 2 (got home around 4 am that day), one of the Captain America movies, and some more I'm forgetting.

Yup, last one I went to was for Skyrim. One of my friends who went with me didn't fucking preorder it so then all of us went through the line a second time because they weren't selling any copies until everyone that preordered got their copies. We give him shit about it to this day.

I went into Walmart a few times at midnight to buy a game but never an actual "release." There were like 4 people there waiting for them to take it out as opposed to hundreds in line at Gamestop across the street...

I'm so glad theaters started doing that instead having to actually wait until midnight.

Yeah tbh, watching a movie at midnight was fun but by almost 2 am I would start to get tired and zone out.

Love going at 7pm

I went to a bunch of midnight releases at Nintendo World Store for a few games.

Pokemon XY: Took a short train ride from my college and got in line at 5:30 pm. It was supposed to be a pre-release event from 8 pm until 12 am. I guess I got in line way too late because I didn't end up getting to Rockefeller Center until 11:12 pm. There was a huge party going on at Rockefeller with tons of activities, music, Pokemon trivia, etc. I don't remember where I bought XY (Probably from the GameStop close to my college), but I bought a Fennekin plushie and an XY 3DS case while I was there. I streetpassed TheJWittz while I was on line too. I didn't know until a few years later, but apparently official Pokemon staff filmed the lines and the party and included them in an official Pokemon special episode, I think it was the Pokemon XY: New Years Special.

Smash Bros 3DS: I pre-ordered SSB 3DS at my local GameStop, so I went to the midnight release fully knowing I'm not buying the game there and I'm just there for the free merchandise. This midnight release didn't go as well as I expected, they ran out of Smash merch early in the line and I was on the corner of 6th and 49th. I guess it was good just for the experience.

Pokemon Sun/Moon: My Thursday night class got canceled that day conveniently, so I was able to go to Nintendo NY earlier than I expected. Got there around 6 pm for a midnight release. Wasn't as good as the XY release, but we still got some merch on line. Everyone was given a set of these starters in the picture here, and we got some free posters, lanyards and pins too. I had pre-ordered Sun and Moon the month before while I was in New York for the Game Grumps live show, so I got the double pack of SM which had two codes for 100 Poke Balls each.

avBlzr6

I'm going back to Nintendo NY for the midnight release of Ultra SM too.

Been to maybe two or three my whole life for games. I went for RE7 a few months back. Never been to a movie at midnight, I watch them either when they're nearly ending their theatrical run or when they're out on Blu-Ray

The last midnight release I went to was GTA 4. I installed the game, played for five minutes and went to bed. I also went to the midnight release for Star Wars Episode 3 and The Dark Knight. Someone called in a bomb threat and we had to leave after the bank heist.
