You've heard this old saying havent you? that money equals happiness or what not. I know i saw an interview before with one of the heirs to one of the big auto companies and he said that....

...i know it sound trite but money doesn't bring happiness, were his exact words. Do you agree with him? And for the purposes of this topic i'm not talking about just a small amount of money but lots.

You don't need money to be happy, but it sure makes it easier.

It isn't happiness in itself but it's a means to it. It allows you to obtain the things you want or need to be happy.

Simply having money itself wouldn't do much if you had nothing to use it on.

I don't think it's exactly as simple as "money can/can't buy happiness." I also don't think money can buy things that you need to be happy.

You can't buy a loving family. You can't buy a fulfilling job. You can't buy respect from friends. That sort of thing is earned through work and effort, regardless of your finances.

What money can do, however, is alleviate fears and stresses that otherwise would prevent happiness. You don't have to worry about that hurricane that might be about to wipe out your home, because you can rebuild easily. You don't have to worry about losing your job because of that accident that ruined your car, because you can just buy a new one or get a rental until it's fixed. You don't have to worry about hospital bills from an unexpected illness meaning you can't pay your rent for a month.

It gives you peace of mind. And peace of mind is 90% of happiness, tbh.

There's a base level of happiness you need, and once you reach that, money is a multiplier that skyrockets your preexisting happiness.

It's actually the exact opposite. I believe once you hit like 90k a year anymore money than that doesn't maker you happier

So if you made 1 million a year for the same amount of work, you don't think you'd be happier?

I would be able to stay home forever and never socalize with people if I had enough money, that alone would make me more happy than anything else in the world.
