Nihilism.

I guess "anti-nihilist" is the term some people like to throw around when I describe my ideas. Most people get this really depressed image when they hear the term on its own, someone who has given up on trying because...what's the point? For me though, it's largely the opposite. (When I get into a particularly rough patch emotionally I sometimes lapse into the bad version, but it never lasts long.)

The fact that this (ALL of this) means nothing on an objective level means we're free to decide that meaning for ourselves. The nothingness which lies at the end - of our lives, of this planet, of the universe - is of no consequence and therefore shouldn't be your concern. It won't happen until you're dead anyway, and at that point you can't dwell on it.

So that just leaves what we do have: this planet and universe. Since this is what we have, we should work to maintain and improve it. We can't improve things without working together, and we can't work together if we're at each other's throats constantly. We should celebrate and utilize our lives, not ruin and waste them. That doesn't mean you're failing every moment you aren't making the most of things - just try to make sure the scale is tipped in its favor at the end.

I dig it. Collaboration is key, and trying to make the most of things I think is what it boils down to. I enjoy celebrating other people's life's and differences. If only everyone felt that way!

it's very much in line with Camus' way of thinking - or maybe a small extension of it

when I was in grade 12, I had a bit of an existential crisis. then during the summer after, I read "Le Mythe de Sisyphe" and it was basically exactly what I needed to read at that time.

I still follow that basic mindset.
