I know the future book series is meant to be 7 books, so maybe 7 seasons, but I know they diverge after a while. I assume, given how immensely popular (and more to the point profitable) the series is, it's going to keep going?

I hate hearing about that all the time. One would think it's the only TV show broadcast in any country at the moment. I'm surprised they're canning it after season 8, though, I would've thought TV execs would want to milk this for all its worth, i.e. completely open-ended. --- It has been 1 days since something interesting happened.
