Scenario: Girl (over 18) creates a bunch of nudes for her then boyfriend. They break up and the nudes get leaked on 4chan and other sites without her permission.

If you've ever lurked on /b/, we're basically talking about those "pics you shouldn't share" threads.

this is a hard subject

on one hand, i feel like what's meant to be private should stay private, no matter what happens. that's just, imo, part of being a decent human being. who knows what kinda havoc leaking nudes can cause? not only is it dangerous, its morally indecent.

on the other hand, it's fucking 2017 and you know the internet exists. things can get out quick and once you send something you can't take it back. if you send nudes, you should be well aware of what could happen if, say, a bitter breakup happens. if you decide to ignore these repercussions, that's on you.

i'm not condoning nude leakers. people like that show a lack of self control and respect for privacy. but at the same time, i feel like this comes with the territory of our internet-based society.

if i had to choose a poll option, i'd choose the third one. the second option is more realistic; once your nudes get out, there's no stopping them from spreading.

I know in Sweden they are trying to make some law to make it easier to charge these people. Right now you can only be charged with slander and it's still hard to get anyone convicted.

Super shitty and it's something some guys will pressure girls into doing. A lot just want to please/be sexy for their S/O but a lot wouldn't have nessessarily done it if a thirsty dbag wasn't begging for it. Regardless of the circumstances, it's something shared in confidence to titillate your SO and it's totally fucking scummy and should be prosecutable to share those pictures.

But of course there's always going to be those "sluts deserve it, hurrrrrrrr" contingent of red pill cock suckers.

People shouldn't put that much trust into people. Should you be able to? Yes. And you can forgive naive young people for trusting the person they love or at least care enough about to send nudes to.

It's a real temptation. You want to please your man or WE but on the other hand it's smart to see all possible outcomes. You can't expect everyone to predict the person they're sexting will turn out to be a dbag.

Yup. My words are empty without conviction, and the internet is bursting with photographs of people who post pictures of themselves for general consumption. We need to examine why the sordid circumstances behind the photographs makes these appeal to us more than the rest.

When you give nudes to someone you should be aware that you are taking the risk of them being shown to others or worse, being posted on the Internet. Even if it's not intentional or malicious, someone could potentially stumble across the person's phone, find them on a computer, etc. As a general rule I don't give out any nudes, nor do I ask for them. What I get in person is enough for me, there's porn for the times when I'm alone.

That being said, I don't think there's ever any good reason to leak something like that when it was shared within the confines of a relationship. I don't care how bad the breakup was or even if they cheated. Have some maturity and basic decency and just delete the pictures/videos once that person is out of your life.

If you dont want the internet to see you naked, dont take pics of yourself naked. And definitely dont share them with anyone. People suck, its pretty safe to say any pics you share will get spread eventually.

If you know they're leaks, or are probably shared without permission or intention that they would be made public, you shouldn't look at them IMO.

It's not like there isn't plenty other porn you could be looking at...

With regards to hacked celebrity nudes, I'd say it's just the price of being famous in the technological era. There are all sorts of concessions celebrities have to make with regards to having a normal life, and taking nudes is one of them. If they choose to take the risk, regardless of the hackers always being in the wrong, they need to treat it as a risk and come to terms with the consequences.

And to answer the question of whether or not I've viewed any leaks, the answer is definitely no.

1. It would legit feel like a scummy/hypocritical thing to do given how I feel about such things being leaked in the first place.
2. There's already plenty of other people *willingly* putting their naked bodies out there that scrambling for leaks just comes off as obsessively pathetic.
3. About 99% of said leaks are of people I wouldn't want to see naked anyway, so there's virtually no appeal for me regardless.

I disagree, to me being a celebrity comes with the concession that you are losing control of privacy over anything you do in a public space (eg. someone might take a picture of you wearing little on a beach and sell it to a newspaper) but I don't think they should be expected to be waiving rights to things intended to be private.

Sending nude pictures to your partner can be a fun bit of foreplay, I don't think people should have to live restricted private lives just because of their job (be it actor, singer, sportsperson) puts them in the public eye.

Leakers should be charged with a crime, if it can be proven who did it.

Anyone who does it is a garbage human being, and I don't associate with anyone who supports it happening or blames the subject of the photos for taking them in the first place. There's no gray area to this debate - it's a shitty thing to do.
