You know how in sci-fi when they go to other planets, planets as big or bigger than earth, all the people on that planet seem to be exactly the same? Which makes no sense when on earth we have literally millions and millions of differences between each of us, between regions and borders and climates and people.

Yet on these planets they're all desert people or they're all nature loving elves or what have you.

Obviously they do this because it's easier than showing how a single planet can be so damn diverse which could take away from the plot at hand. But it makes me wonder if homogeneity is what will happen if we become advanced enough and have all the same resources like time speed travel and flying boats and smartphone bracelets and whatnot.

And they have one leader, community etc. Or at least 2 which are in conflict.

The illuminati strives for homogeny because it will stop conflict on earth. If everybody is the same and thinks the same then there will be no more war or other bad things happening.

No. Why would it be the natural end result when naturally we've diverged and evolved differently. Given enough time and without human intervention (diversity, multiculturalism) every race will eventually evolve into separate species. Homogeny would be an artificial result.

I'm very reasonable.
Research has proven that quote stackers are ALWAYS alts of each other ;)

The question was rhetorical, the actual question is why writers for these scifi type media always swing that way.

It's just more convenient for each planet/race to have a singular theme.

Yeah, no.

Maybe if humanity hadn't developed civilization and continued to live separately as nomadic tribals locked away on different continents for another million years you would end up with different species, and that's not even a guarantee.

I think in those star trek wars movies they always explain the language thing as everyone having an in-built "universal translator" that makes them understand everybody.

But yeah that's another point. An entire huge planet the size of earth that all speak one language... if the british empire weren't able to achieve that on earth, doubtful any of the other planets could.

I dunno, if a planet reaches near total globalization (which isn't outside the realm of possibility) then I don't see it being odd for their entire race to know a lingua franca. There could still be regional languages.

Maybe. But as you know language is tied to culture, and unifying a language means or might mean the loss of individual cultures.
