Like, homicidal is wanting to kill others. Suicidal is wanting to kill yourself. What if neither of those are true unless you want everyone to go, including yourself? Is there a word for this?

You mean a word describing humans and our penchant for self-destruction?

I think Jung named it the "death drive." Not as exciting as it sounds.

Instead of plumbing my unreliable memory, I should probably just look it up.

Edit: Freud, not Jung

Ah, that makes sense but I didn't think that word was appropriate as it just entails the disgust at humanity rather than the specific wish for total annihilation lol.

I don't understand that feeling.

Humanity is not and never will be perfect. If you have these feelings you need to let go of your all-or-nothing perfectionism and stop setting the bar so high for something that doesn't need a bar at all.

I think you may be using yourself as the sole anecdote here when you say "horribly overconfident". Not meant to be a typical CE jab, just an observation. You may be projecting your personal criticisms as a standard among humans in general.

With regards to the rest, humans are the only animals able to be judged in such a negative way, so it isn't fair to compare us with species that exist completely outside of the concept of morality. If we make contact with other intelligent alien races to compare us to then you can make that criticism. But right now all we have are fictional alternate races that writers can project whatever qualities they want upon.

We can make projections simply by comparing the habits of the more intelligent non-human animals to ourselves. We are still very primitive. Our tendency to adhere to the herd mentality is an example of this. Most animals do not hang around more than 5-15 others similar to them. We are very different as far as that goes. We do not handle it well however, as can be seen by all the prejudiced still in the world. We have not come as far as we could have or should have due to primitive behaviors we cannot seem to shake as a species.

Before civilization we didn't hang around more than 5-15 other people. We are at heart a tribal species, not a herd species. That's why we have things like racial prejudice and social phobia. We aren't built with the necessary tools for dealing with large groups of new faces every day. Our modern "herd" is simply the result of efficiency.

Herds of dumbasses being in control is not very efficient. Especially when they cannot relate to those of a class that the societal construct we have created would call "lower class".

Misanthropy works for me.

"I'm not bigoted, I dislike everyone equally."

Admittedly, not to the extent that I want humanity outright wiped out, but rather it's the reason I avoid social interaction. I'm capable of basic, if cold, courtesy and respect and that's about it. There just isn't anybody out there that could be trustworthy or tolerable enough that I would ever count them as a friend or beyond (even my own family ended up being a regrettably mixed bag), and I rightly assume no one would want to deal with me either for various reasons, so it works out that neither party wants to hang around each other any longer than absolutely necessary.

That's just thinking we aren't important and don't really matter rather than thinking we should all die. I think to say "misanthropic with omnicidal ideations" may be a good way to put someone who feels that way.
