I was idling while typing this, and when I got back, the TV was turned on for some reason. Did a firefighter show up and decide to use my TV or something?

I love The Sims 3, I think I've only had one fire in there, seems they're less likely than in previous games, same with burglaries, I only have the base game though so maybe that changes with expansions I dunno

Mother fucker, it happened again. I idled, came back, and heard the smoke detector alarm and see a fire happening while she's at work.

It feels like Sims 2 and 3 tries to manufacture these things to happen. I remember in Sims 2 lots of times while someone was cooking, the phone would conveniently ring so they would be distracted so a fire could start.

I didn't play enough of Sims 4 to test this, but it seems to me that the whole series requires far too much micromanagement to make it interesting as an independent simulator of human behavior. The games are fun from a sandboxy perspective but... sometimes I just want to make a family and let the game do its thing and see what happens after a few hours or days.

The Melcom in the Middle episode is great
