They would most likely go the TF2 route and do seasonal events and/or special modes (like Mann vs Machine)

I really wish they gave you an option of what map you get to play on for ranked.

I don't like the idea of map selection/voting. Eventually there will be a few maps that are never picked and that's not a game I want to play.
