Whether you like Pewdiepie or not this is a stupid scenario.

Firewatch has openly stated it supports streamers, says on their website that they give permission for let's plays and streaming, then advertises and comments on some streamers who streamed their game.

Now after the fact they want to accuse Pewdiepie of copyright infringment because he said a rude word.

That's utterly absurd.

He did nothing that violated copyright, you can't just pretend someone broke a law they didn't just because you don't like them.

Hilariously, the people breaking copyright are the various sources and newsites that are the ones violating copyright when they share Pewdiepie's video unedited with no commentary or transformation. That's infringing copyright.

Anyone who sides with the developers here is at best ignorant and at worst a complete idiot.

I would not be surprised if there's a similar link between racial prejudice and people who complain about social justice warriors. For a lot of people who cling to racism, it's just another defense mechanism to allow them to plug their ears and turn out their detractors.

I think it should be noted that since the initial tweet, the Firewatch dev backed down hard, and decided to "consult their attorneys" who are most assuredly going to advise against going through it, as if Pewdiepie takes them to court over it, they're boned.
