I honestly haven't faced many bosses that have felt unique or really that interesting. It's mostly the same ol' formula in any game that isn't niche.

Mr. Freeze in Arkham City
He's part puzzle, part boss. He can only be attacked in certain ways, but he'll learn those attacks and will stop you from doing it. For instance, if you sneak up behind him and clock him, he'll open up vents on the back of his suit which damage you if you get close. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Mr. Freeze in Arkham City That's what I thought of coming into this topic. Only one in recent memory that has stood out to me. I really enjoyed it, and on harder difficulties it posed a challenge. --- "There's nothing gay about liking a nice feminine penis." crazygamer21 ... Copied to Clipboard!

Most bosses from Borderlands 2 Tiny Tina's DLC. Lots of references, dry humor and even a tear jerker.

Souls series had a bunch of them.
Demon's Souls definitely had the most "gimmicky" bosses. Old Monk (summons another player), Fool's Idol (had to kill hidden NPC), Storm King (had to use Storm Ruler), and more. Dark Souls III tried to recreate some of those ideas, but they just came off as frustrating homages rather than fun or entertaining fights (especially the Old Monk copycat). ... Copied to Clipboard!

so you're basically looking for gimmicky boss fights? No. I'm looking at what which bosses YOU find entertaining. I will agree that Borderlands had entertaining bosses. They just skipped my mind because I haven't played in a while. The Souls games have pretty atmospheric bosses too. Almost completely forgot about some of the gimmick bosses in Demon's Souls. They weren't that fun. I was just saying that bosses aren't really that interesting typically. --- People are afraid of what they don't understand. ... Copied to Clipboard!

In terms of bosses specifically, I loved Furi.
And more recently, even though they didn't always work, the bosses in Sonic Mania were pretty varied and interesting. --- PSN: kazukifafner ... Copied to Clipboard!

Most bosses from Borderlands 2 Tiny Tina's DLC. Lots of references, dry humor and even a tear jerker. Um, this is the DLC with the absolutely horrendous Handsome Dragon. I hope you're not counting that one. I mean, it's not as bad as Jackenstein or the Badassasaurus, but it's still pretttttty awful. How recent is recent? Rabi-Ribi's free Halloween DLC boss, the new bosses from the DLC that released yesterday, and the standard game's first endgame boss and all postgame bosses are some of the most fun and interesting bosses I've seen in 2D game. Some of them took me six or more hours to beat, too. ![]() Not many other games I've played with noteworthy bosses in the last year. Most bosses nowadays are just setpieces or have too small an attack pool to be interesting. --- "That is why war is so tragic.
