They were as fast as me and my partner, which was surprising because Americans and Canadians tend to be tougher in general in the mountaineering community. We made friends with them. Skied the peak and met them at basecamp. One of them mentioned he just turned 70. SEVENTY. He looked 50. He was as fast as 4 other serious ski mountaineers in their 20s and 30s. He made me not afraid of getting old. Being stuck in a reality where there's only one chance at everything is fucking bullshit and that there's no looking outside of it either way is even worse. It infuriates me and what makes me even madder is that there's nothing to be done for it. You're just put into the dream and forced to accept it, already administered with an innate fear of not existing. Like, even if I kept trying at this point, the lifestyle I wanted (playing shows, touring, partying all the time) doesn't seem appealing anymore.
