TBH in my experience, most of the black people i know, as well as myself, don't get riled up from the word. Normally the context i see it used isn't in the derogatory racist way of the past. I honestly get more uncomfortable at people getting offended for me than the word itself. I also get annoyed when people say it, but then apologize, because that then gives the impression they feel they're doing something wrong. Like when a non-black person say it with black friends, and it flows like water, and we don't sense guilt, we don't care lol. This isn't speaking for all Blacks obviously, but that's my experience and what I've seen.
