..Why did they make it seem all it is is a spooky monster? Rather than a literal god/demon?

I've got a question for ya. Is Pennywise only portrayed as a scary clown monster. I mean at anytime in the movie does he try to come of as a funny clown to lure kids into a false sense of security only to pounce on them when they least expect it. Or is straight to scary evil clown.

Pennywise is just the clown form. Which he uses to lure kids in to kill. In the movie (part 1 anyway) they kinda make it it's "default" form for some reason.

I just don't like how they turned Pennywise into a jumpscare machine from Five Night's at Freddy's.

Other than that it was good. The casting was basically perfect

Was disappointed that it didn't just kill them several times when it easily could have.

And the whole "BURRR NOT SCURD OF U NOW" horseshit.

Also the part where bev gets grabbed, 2 ladies screamed and i completely lost it.

Didn't scare me though. My mum (who paid me to go with her >_>) blocked her eyes every time she though a jump scare was coming.

I was surprised by how good it was. The effects and design were great. They had a great physical twist on Pennywise (the mouth thing...eurgh) and the actor who played him did a great job taking it in a different direction. The Beverly bathroom seen was also very intense.

While the kid actors were good, I was not a fan of the movie overall. But I read the novel a couple times so my expectations are a little different.
