yea so my sister just got a new phone. she is not have a lot of $$$ or anything so she got a 30$ smart phone. she played around with it, tried to secure it, and somehow it locked her out of her sim card like now her phone is useless

going online for help, it says she needs to call custoemr service to get her phone unlocked. so she called and waited 30 mins before hanging up. perhaps small company so 1 person on custemer service. 1866 number

so she googled around and found a different number for customer service, 1800. turns out it was an adult chat hotline, like the original number ws disconnected. so my sis called the adult hotline, the woman pre recorded voice told her to take off her clothes. sis told me somethings not right and gave me the phone and i heard it too

we hung up and called the orig 1866 number. after a few hours / days of trying, we fixed it. got unlock code

Many years ago a company I worked for accidentally sent an adult number out in place of our customer service number on the year end summary statements.

Pretty much all old company numbers that go out of service get bought up by adult hotlines.

The old company I worked for had an issue where our main office # was being used on a infomercial for jewelry. So for about 4 months we fielded calls from elderly people asking for tracking on their rings/necklaces/earrings and such.

Your topic reminds me of that fact the line in the Santa Clause where Tim Allen's character says, "1800 Spank me? I know that number!" was cut from the DVD release because some kid back when it came out called that number and it was an adult Hotline. The parents of the child filed a lawsuit against Disney and won. I actually miss that line cause I thought it was funny.

When I worked in a call centre doing phone support some of the internal directory numbers were actually adult phone lines like that. These were numbers printed off in guide books and numbers in digital directories. That's how I learned to not cold transfer. And how ridiculous it is to get to the right number even for employees.

when you transfer a call to another line and hang up

as opposed to a warm transfer where you put the caller on hold, call the second line, confirm it's the right line and then introduce the caller to the other person
