this reminds of when I was in 7th grade and a girl in my class had an xfiles novel and during recess I was in the classroom alone and I took it....and when the teacher said that the thief could leave it on the girl's desk when nobody was around and there would be no looking into who did it....I still didn't give it back because I had panicked and scribbled out the girl's name in the inside cover in case someone saw the book and noticed the name. and for some reason I thought since i had done that, I couldn't return it. and I never gave it back. it's my secret shame that I feel guilty about it like 23 years later......
