Why? Review bombing is a good thing. They're taking away power from frustrated gamers.

I was wary of how they'd handle it, but a histogram is a pretty good idea. if the reviews were always positive up until recently, it's probably still a good game and people are just acting out for some reason. and then you can check that reason and decide whether you agree with it or not

not sure what the link says but I read the official announcement and they're not changing the way review scores or reviews are calculated at present. they're just showing graphs of review trends so when a review bomb occurs, you can see when it occurs and you can do things like read reviews before / after / during the bomb to make better educated decisions.

The catalyst for this is basically Firewatch where people negatively rated the game because of something that had nothing to do with the game but this has been a problem going on for a long time. It's actually not really a problem, it's "working as intended" according to Valve, but they are adding better visibility into reviews that let customers make better educated decisions.

Seems like a good idea, particularly the part about being able to see the trend of reviews over a period of time. That can help people see how games are supported after release.

Steam needs to fix the fact that when you buy a new game, it almost never launches as it should. Then, they should implement a rewards system for how many achievements you have.

Good idea. Gamers are pretty reactionary, and review scores can plummet for virtually any reason, so it's nice to be able to see broader trends in review scores. Of course, review bombs *can* be justified, so at least they're not being stopped altogether, and just pointed out to inform you better.

No it didn't. The creation club doesn't take away from how good or bad the game itself is.

Yes it does. Bloats your system and offers crappy mods that are worse than free versions by the community.

Its a micro transaction push.

Would it be too unfair to only let people who purchased a game leave reviews?

Isn't it already like that? But steam let's you return a game if you play less than 2 hours on it, so a lot of people buy the game, play for a little so they have some time on it, drop a negative review, and refund the game

Which was ridiculous. People want to know how good the game is, not entitled whining about the publisher.

I disagree. How good a game is is related to it's price. A $5 game that is pretty entertaining for 3 hours but no more is a good game. If it costs $60 and everything else is the same then it's a bad game.

They then reversed the price increase, but the negative reviews are still there because people can't be bothered to change them back. That's a problem.

When you launch the game, there are four options. One is Play Game and then something like Launch from control. Have you tried the second one, or verifying game cache?
