All that matters is that it was completely overshadowed by the better game, BotW

You know it's possible for two great games to be released around the same time right?

It's also possible for one of them to be completely forgotten due to the other one being leagues better. Which is what happened.

Err no. Horizon is the big new IP for Sony and will be sticking around for a while. Not sure why it has to be a competition.

Also didn't Horizon destroy BotW in sales when they both came out.

Just more weeaboos, jealous of the fact that outside of a few notable exceptions, most Japanese studios have to resort to sexual pandering to foreveralones in order to get their games on the map.

I mean one is a brand new IP and the other is an IP that has +30 years of recognition.

With that said, both games are fun but are nothing to how really fun Far Cry Primal.

Doesn't bother me at all, Horizon was a great game. I'm a Bioware fan and they're even worse for this stuff, doesn't stop their games from being excellent.

You're kidding yourself however if you pretend you can't see why it ticked off the gender politics vultures. The game wasn't even subtle.

Most Sony IPs are forgotten shortly after launch up until the sequel. Fits the bill. Getting that Infamous treatment. Could have slapped an Ubisoft logo on the game and it would have fooled everyone.

The NPCs are very diverse but it's never brought any attention to and I found it kind of refreshing in that way.

Also, at worst Aloy looks above average to me, I really don't get the complaints about her look at all. Visually she pops and looks like the star of a movie, certainly not just an extra to blend in.

So I imagine the game does tick those boxes (and maybe more) for the more hyper-liberals but I don't recall it ever using it as a way to talk down to the player so for me the SJW critique is just nonsense.

It's impressive how much of this is wrong. I wonder if people will swallow up the bullshit anyway. Avad and Sylens alone contradict half of this incredibly reaching list.

Nope.

> The hero of the past who saved the world is a mary sue super perfect girl
Nope. She didn't save the world at all. That's the point. She let it be destroyed and set up the stage to start it again. She also trusted Ted too much and her plan ultimately didn't work as it was supposed to.

> Main Villain is a man
The main villain is an AI called Hades

> Even with AI the villain is male and hero is female...somehow...
Somehow? All of the AI are named after mythological Gods. Gaia is always depicted as the God of nature. How did this fly right past you?

> Main character reacts to every sexual advance and thought of sexual activity with contempt and disgust
Err what? She usually doesn't react much at all. She certainly didn't react with contempt to Avad and Erend

> The peaceful people are all led by women, the violent people are all led by men.

How have you finished the game and considered the Nora to be the good guys and the Carja to be violent bad guys? Did you miss how the Nora were isolationist and incredibly hostile to anyone who crossed their borders or were outcast due to their religion? Did you miss that Aloy spent her entire life before the game being a victim of this?

> Despite a slightly hilarious amount of reaching and effort to include a racially diverse cast, everyone evil is male and (almost) entirely white
Did you completely forget about Sylens? Did you think he was a good guy? Do you think the post-credit scene of him extracting the Hades AI was supposed to be an act of heroism?

What a dumb post. "She didn't save the world, she just prevented the excintion of the human race and literally rebuilt the entire world while successfully stopping the evil threat, that's not saving the world! It's just preventing the world from being destroyed and then saving it,... it being the world. And she's also not perfect, she trusted a white man too much and he fucked everything up again for the second time after he fucked the world up once already."

It didn't?... But it doesn't change the point whatsoever.

Yes she did, she gets all pissy that he moved on Ersa instantly and tried to go after her. She also makes snide or disgusted comments every time it comes up.

No I didn't. Doesnt change any of the points.

Again you're confusing "I don't care and I like the game" with "I want to lie to pretend that I can't comprehend while gender politics vultures got angsty about this one!"

You don't have to pretend to be stupid just because you like the game.

So what you're saying is that she wasn't a Mary Sue who saved the world and that your post wasn't correct at all. You're also not mentioning that Ted Faro also helped along with hundreds of other people in the Horizon Zero Dawn program and that it still failed. Got it.

Who has a male voice and male charactistics. While the good AI has a female voice and female characistics. Meanwhile his evil right hand man is male and the man who f***ed everything up in the first place is male.

He's a robot with a robot voice. He has no other goal than restarting the world. That's it. It's a robotic spin on old mythology. Gaia is designed to be the God of nature and has a female hologram (the only one we see). There's also literally every other AI in the game that you're not mentioning. Hades purpose was to restart the world. That's why he's the bad one. Hades is usually depicted as a villain.</Did you whine that God of War had Gaia as a protagonist and Ares as a villain?

The dumb thing with complaints like this is that literally any female role would still have these dumb reaching complaints because then you'd whine it's not realistic that nobody important is a man.

No I didn't. Doesnt change any of the points.

Yes it does. You make it sound like the female led tribes were the heroes and the male led ones were the villains? Is this correct? No.

And Sylens isn't even evil. Just out for himself, using you for his own gain like men do.

Wait so it's just men and not white men who are bad now? The Nora leaders also never used Aloy for their own benefit once she gained importance?

And he's literally responsible for Hades coming back. He literally spends the entire game manipulating Aloy. The sequel thread directly involves him yet again using Hades. You don't get to say dumb shit like "all the villains are white males" when he's literally the most important character outside of Aloy and is set up as a direct antagonist in future games.

Because it is.

I've made multiple topics on the issue, only to be screamed at irreparably by Horizon fantheys and fanthems. I'll edit in my most recent topic. It gets very lively, fyi:

https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/168644-horizon-zero-dawn/75738992

Basically, it's about a woman who indirectly denounces men, the patriarchy, and biology. Moreover, the game suggests that all men are weak, infantile maniacs, who will lead civilization to ruin -- women are harmony. Think of game where the meat of the narrative is centered around Sally Fields' s quote from the Oscars, or is the brain-fart of Anita Sarkeesian.

It's that bad.

Now, Horizon keeps these tropes hidden or subtle until the last third, through the clever guise of exploration in a science fiction setting. But, Horizon is indeed a critique on the male gender, and is a mouth piece for Scandinavian SJW groupthink. Guerrilla has some piss in the soup, and need the same restructuring that EA gave to Bioware Edmonton.

There is a Muslim scientist and the game does promote the strength of mixing cultures vs stagnation.

But calling that "A muslim character pushing open boarders on you" is like saying that Legend of Zelda is about a transgender on a quest to fist a giant pig.

How can this not be a 'theme of the game' when you literally play as a female character with a primary male antagonist lead by an AI god? If the game had the exact same plot with a male protagonist you'd literally have nothing to reach at. There are also several male heroes that help Aloy as well. Remember the final mission?

Oh yeah just empowering Hades was not a big deal at all and completely irrelevant to the games plot. His thirst for knowledge at the expense of everything else is also seen as a heroic quality because reasons. He certainly showed a lot of regret and remorse over the events and mistakes he made right? That's why him having Hades to talk to isn't a big deal at all.

All that matters is that it was completely overshadowed by the better game, BotW

You know it's possible for two great games to be released around the same time right?

It's also possible for one of them to be completely forgotten due to the other one being leagues better. Which is what happened.

I played both

Honestly I enjoyed Horizon much more

Ashley Burch voices the main character. I think that is the main reason.

Why would anyone not like Ashly Burch?

Because she is an SJW with an SJW brother. Not because of her voice acting ability.
Maybe it's mostly her brother.

I think she did a really good job as Aloy and Aloy is a good character. She's a good voice actress.

...and she wanted to do Mass Effect right after Horizon. Hmmm...

the main character isn't a total slammin' hotty so nerds are buttflustered

For real. She has a more hunter tough woman look to her. More primal and savage. It's a cool look tbh.

She's not a Victoria's secret model and so the whiners can't masturbate to her. I bet you that the complainers create female characters in every game as well.

There is a Muslim scientist and the game does promote the strength of mixing cultures vs stagnation.

IIRC no evidence she was Muslim. The headscarf isn't strictly Muslim attire. She didn't wear a hijab either. and all her shit gets deleted anyway
