Public education is ostensibly built on the Socratic method, but far too many people choose only to question authority (and at times or forums where exigency renders that inappropriate). Meanwhile, they'll watch a heavily edited 8-second video and can't be bothered to ask what happened before the camera started recording. Asking to allow time for a proper investigation is deemed irrational. Clearly, all such videos should be taken at face value as long as they are aired by the echo chamber of the viewer's choosing. The education system is actually not that bad, for those who choose and are able to take advantage of it. The still larger problem there is a culture that doesn't value education enough. You need look no further than CE to find college students, and even graduates, who can't see the purpose of "gen ed" classes not directly related to their majors. To them, education is nothing more than job training, or worse, a box that needs to be checked so they can add one line to a resume. We're much more concerned with wealth and materialism, particularly in the short term.
