On the protein side I eat alot of processed beef and chicken and eat unsalted peanuts. There's many other activities in modern society that harm animals. They ignore it because there's only so much sacrificing of their lifestyle that they will tolerate. I doubt any vegan or vegetarian will boldly say that everything they do fits in with the philosophy of not harming animals. There's only so much a person can reasonably do or want to do. They would view eating meat as one thing that they can do though. And that's perfectly fine. Any little amount helps. It's not an all or nothing choice I can accept that argument. Though I will say many who claim to be very dedicated to the cause are putting their inconvenience threshold to a minimal. Certainly not all, though.
