I heard the pandora commercial this morning. He sounded like they called and woke him up.

"Our album will be out October sixth... I think you can click the screen and check it out... if you want it, you can buy it. If not, fuck you."

You don't like Marilyn manson? You're like the cosmopolitan ice cream flavor of music, so surely it fits in somewhere.

Anyway, those songs were pretty badass. I will most likely but the whole CD, as opposed to buying individual tracks that I like.

Manson was basically made by Trent, then Manson turned on him. Hence the NIN song: starfuckers,Inc. Bring entirely about Manson.

They have made up since then though.

I love how NiN fanboys say "Trent," like they're talking about their best buddy. Same goes from Maynard Keenan. NiN's newer music was a fuck-you to their loyal fans.

(I like both of those artists and their bands, but holy shit).

1. NIN is literally indie at this point
2. Released The Slip and Ghosts for free legally
3. His entire life since Purest Feeling has been a battle with record labels

I'm not sure what the fuck you think selling out means, but it's the exact opposite of what Trent does.

Beautiful People isn't a cover, dumbass. Lmao

He also has numerous original hits that you could very easily discover if you did your own research. This is like asking if Johnny Cash had any original hits because he covered Hurt

Different people say it for different reasons. Basically, they built a humongous fan base and then just changed music styles.

This triggered me so hard. Trent Reznor never sold out. His most recent album (Hesitation Marks) and most recent EP (Add Violence that just came out a couple months ago) are amazing. NIN are leagues above MM.

Nine inch nails is hit or miss because you never know what they're going to give you. They are inconsistent and even if they went back to playing normally, that would not erase the years of toothless indie nonsense that they released. Marilyn Manson played for the people and never stabbed his fanbase in the back.

What if Led Zeppelin became a polka band? You think this fanbase wouldn't have been mad? NiN was hard and heavy and badass before they went to that hippy-skippy shit. Many fans in the 90s idolized the band and it was an outlet for their bullshit. Then they changed for the worse.

1. His music didn't change drastically
2. Selling out implies music style was changed in order to compromise for a label contract. Trent Reznor didn't get any extra music label money for "changing his music style."

I didn't care for that one. It just sounded kind of soulless, like they just used studio noise rather than proper emphasis on the instruments. I'm not saying there wasn't the occasional decent song in their bad period, but the bad outweighed the good.

It was literally written in the 80s and was cut from their first album.

The nonsense about NIN old being "heavy" is basically just that. It went from this Kraftwerk-ish style music to the heavy guitars Broken to a bunch of drum machine and electronic mixing in TDS.

His albums all have different themes. Trent Reznor views his music as art and not band brand management.

I get that, but This further supports my claims of Marilyn Manson offering a more consistent approach. I'm not faulting NiN for trying new stuff, but if the audience (aka the people paying you) go wild over one style, keep going with it.

NiN is one of my favorite bands. I'm not bashing them, but people came into this topic, which was only made to discuss the new Marilyn Manson CD, and started bashing Manson, which is way uncool. I probably listen to both bands almost every day, but regardless, I don't see the need to turn this into the NiN topic

Sure, I think the forest is getting lost through the trees here but Manson has had similar album style changes to NIN.

Portrait of an American Family and Antichrist Superstar are extremely different thematically and musically from Mechanical Animals, just as an example.
