If you're not invested in it already, I wouldn't really bother unless the only characters that you care about are Goku, Gohan or Frieza. And Trunks for one small portion of an arc.

arc 1 : beerus wakes up and comes looking for super saiyan god
goku becomes that and they fight in space

arc 2 : beerus brother hunts the super dragonballs, beerus learns of this and they make a tournament

arc 3 : frieza comes back

arc 4 : the mysterious goku black appears

arc 5 : another tournament

The tournament is kinda a big deal though as it's between 8 different universes is a Battle Royale and also the losing universes are erased from existence
