Calwyn 09/27/17 10:43:35 PM #26:	As a Cardinals fan... good. With the lineup they were putting out there this season, they were going nowhere in the playoffs even if they did make it. Hopefully missing the playoffs two years in a row will convince Mozeliak and Matheny that they need to start spending money to sign a big-time player. The Cardinals simply don't have enough talent or consistency right now to be a playoff contender. No consistent, dependable power hitter. No consistent, reliable pitcher. No consistent, hard-throwing closer. If they even had one of those this season, or got one of those in a deal at the trade deadline, then they could have made a postseason run. But instead, they did the absolute worst thing they could have done at the trade deadline: nothing. They're not good enough to make the playoffs, but not bad enough to get a high draft pick and rebuild. Moving in one of those directions, either one, would have been better than doing nothing. If this season's failure leads to positive change, then I'm glad the Cardinals failed.
