Already was telegraphed. Lee, Cruz, and Paul were uncertain, but Murkowski and Collins have demonstrated vehement opposition prior, and McCain made an entire statement of his opposition.

They'll probably keep trying but it really shows how weak the Republican party is right now Despite solid victories a year ago, they are struggling to accomplish anything at all. Trump's promise of negotiation was either a lie or his sheer political inexperience showing.

This is important, because they can't pass anything under Reconciliation rules after Sept. 30th, which means all future attempts at repeal need 60 votes. And they had 49 at their high-water mark.
They could try to pass it under reconciliation next year, but that would basically have to happen right before the 2018 elections.

Let's get on with tax reform already

Republican plans often include increases in taxes for lower income brackets while expenditure shifts towards waste like increased military budgets so I can't say I'm looking forward to this.
