>playing final fantasy on steam

boy I'd be embarrassed if I said that. Oh dear...

Wait so you still play it on the SNES?

Absolutely.

I even don't mind playing PSX anthologies version on PSN. But sitting there dealing with steam or emulators, substandard controllers, dealing with crap, I'd rather play the game w 0 hassle, with my large television and speakers and enjoy the game pretty much as it looked and sounded when it came out. If I wanted new and improved audio and visuals, I wouldn't be playing a 20+ year-old game. Dude in all honesty I'd be very embarrassed lol if I went back and saw myself make arguments like the ones you're making ITT. It looks like garbage. Do you also play the other mobile mass marketed FF games? Exvius or whatever? Are you enjoying being a part of that?

Just sounds like you're lazy to me. Isn't that hard to get stuff working on a computer.

It isn't hard; I'd rather not do it for a version of the game I'm not interested in playing. It's more work and therefor just adds to my reasons for not wanting to play this version of the game..... That I believe you'd even said was bad. Go away.

I don't like the sprites, but I love emulators and steam ports of other things. :v

Higher quality theory doesn't always mean it sounds better to everyone. Hell, some people prefer to listen to records over CDs.

It sounds different...to some it might be more clear and audible (or better as you would put it), but to people like me I hear little nuances in the instruments (mostly with the string instruments) that are erased I guess because they were a product of low quality....but it still existed, and I would prefer to listen to the soundtrack with them in there.

Vinyl is a separate issue. Particularly old music (basically anything before the 80s and potentially stuff up until the 90s) was never mastered digitally so Vinyl pressings remain the highest quality recordings of that audio. It's particularly an issue for older artists that are either dead, retired, or otherwise can't make new music or you want to listen to their older stuff.

And really old records aren't Vinyl at all, but are made from Shellac which is totally different.

A great deal of digital music from older artists is basically a digital recording of playing the vinyl because that's the highest quality recording available.

For anything modern, Digital is objectively superior unless you want to hear the resonance for some reason.

I don't know about for other people, but I have a record player because it serves as a decoration that can do something neat. I only buy a new record every couple of months or so, but it's just a neat thing to have as opposed to thinking it's superior to digital

Yeah. A few bands I'm into released a few collectable vinyl things and I bought those and that was cool and I also bought a small variety of "just play something" records for when guests ask about it, like GotG Soundtrack and it's a nifty toy and cool to show off, but I'm not going to build a huge collection of vinyl.

text limitations of primitive hardware, low resolution screen real estate, and translating compact characters to english letters does not mean you cannot do it in the PC/Mobile version.

I'm saying Suplex is not an accurate translation. It was done because "meteor strike" didn't fucking fit in the tiny 240p text box.

Gotcha

But you simply no longer Suplex a Fucking Train anymore, which is what I was complain about to begin with. That's the meme, the the memory, that's the moment. It's no longer that, but you said it was. And it isn't. The new games killed it

No one cares, "Suplex" is still infinitely cooler than "Meteor Strike," particularly when the latter doesn't involve an actual meteor.

I mean the move you do in the game isn't a Suplex either. It's a powerbomb.

I don't think he would have submitted art he was not happy with.

The issue with the art is this.

1. The original art showed the characters from a different perspective. The new art is not just different, it's also painted from a different perspective. The old perspective matched the perspective for walking around the maps, where as the new perspective matches the side view battle.

2. While all the characters and monsters had re-done sprites, the backgrounds were not changed, and the hi-res sprites mixed with the original backgrounds creates a bit of a disconnect.

Overall the art is good, it just doesn't hit nostalgia buttons. If this was your first experience playing FF6, you literally wouldn't notice.
