Also was it a computer that the company owned or is it your own?
If the latter, I can't stop laughing.

as have I. I clocked about 80GB in under an hour using my former company's uncapped T1 line. snagged Arkham Knight and some other stuff when it came out. the next day when the evidence was gone one of the network engineers came in wondering what had happened.

I blatantly told everyone: got new laptop delivered, if your internet slows down it's because I'm downloading games. Let me know if it gets too slow and I'll stop.

Nobody cared.

Shittier than i thought then...

Jesus... whilst my current connection isnt the best, i believe thats more to the fact we are 12 apartments (so to speak) + upwards of a half dozen workers to the SAME connection..

And even with that, i dont think downloading GTA V for example would take me more than some hours and change...

Was using megadownloader, but it wasnt running in the background.. Its minimized in the bottom right bar where volume date etc etc are normally placed..

It Tech found out about it.. Including the tiny usb attached to the desktop in the back

I felt like a criminal when I was escorted to the office for a chat :(

Probably monitoring it with software. Or even the internet is filtered.
Don't use company hardware for downloading, ever.
Hell, even when I have to use a computer that the company owns I set it up to connect to my phone's internet. I don't trust them

Seriously, never trust a company.
Assume everything you do with a computer is monitored.

Even if you had your own laptop I'd still tell you to setup a VM with linux, give it some generic name and use a VPN.

That way if they do bitch, you can just close the VM and show them your history on your browser for work.

Hell, I have a seperate browser solely used for work related things. Nothing more, nothing less.
