aliens would show up at the end? I never watched the first one, and had no clue going into the movie what it would be about, but it was still obvious that aliens were going to be there at the end. I would have been disappointed if it turned out to be nothing.

I just knew it because the movie made sure that every little tidbit had some importance later on.
