I stopped using facebook when everybodies mom got on it, and i think it died to me when everybodies grandma got on it.

It was so much better and cooler when it was a younger person thing almost exclusively. It was more vibrant and interesting.

I don't think it's strictly older people. I think it's that more people in general have easy access the world over, than ever. People, sad or scary news, bad stuff happening, it's always been this way. But now more people are talking about it, adding fuel to the fire in many cases, or they believe somehow the times are worse now than they were in say, the 80s or 90s.

No, you said "social media".

But the point that you're blatantly missing is that there were plenty of young racists on the Internet (which includes Facebook) before the old racists came along and found Facebook. Because racism isn't really an age-based thing.

Generally speaking, for every form of social media that's ever been invented, shitty people were posting on it 20 minutes after it first existed. Because humans, in general, are terrible. And the Internet tends to bring out the worst in everyone.
