In English the term "vegan" is used as a qualifier. Anything that follows it is vegan (without animal products). vegan cookies means no eggs, butter, or milk. Vegan sauce means no meat, butter, milk, etc. vegan cheese means no dairy or rennet. It's really not at all difficult. using the qualifier word vegan is calling it something else.

When you want to convey how awe inspiring that your happy and blessed female child is, do you say: "Look at my gay and silly wench, she is just so awful." No?

Then maybe instead of selectively quoting definitions that try to advance your SJW agenda, maybe you should realize that English is a living language and definitions evolve over time. If you want to use a language that is static go learn a dead language such as Latin and use it instead.

When you talk to people in real life, you quickly realize that people do not always use words literally and sometimes omit words because they are not necessary for the speaker's meaning to be understood.

"Vegan cheese" would be more accurately called "vegan cheese substitute," but it is completely unnecessary to say "substitute" since it is obvious to any adult with a brain that cheese cannot be vegan, and thus "vegan cheese" would not literally be cheese, but a cheese-like substance that vegans use in place of it.

That's just how communication works.

I'm in a similar place. I mean I know I could go vegan if it came down to it but not being able to eat even a regular cheese pizza or ice cream (I know there's substitutes and I eat them sometimes but being vegan seems so much harder socially)... I did end up going vegetarian about a year ago though and it hasn't been hard at all. The hardest thing is having to ask at restaurants whether something like soup has meat stock or not. I find it a little embarrassing like I'm being self-important.

I know you're just going for a gotcha here but on the off-chance you legitimately don't know the difference between factory farms and grain harvesting, you should really look it up. Tons of videos out there showing the conditions of those places.

Good for you and well done. A year vegetarian is more than most will do. I understand why you don't want to go all the way. I've had the worst hankering for a cheese pizza lately. :(

You could always be mostly plant-based and a little flexible with dairy and other things for a treat or socializing.

It shouldn't be an issue to ask about meat stock. But I do understand feeling annoying for needing to ask.
