apparently they're in < i > elements, which is supposed to be italic. apparently this is common practice on large websites to minimize bandwidth consumption by using short tags
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/11135261/should-i-use-i-tag-for-icons-instead-of-span as for why they're disappearing for you, I have no idea, but I'd inspect the page if I could with them missing and check the CSS, and see if the i tag is even there, etc. maybe you have some kind of adblocker or similar addon which is blocking the images from downloading? look for warnings/errors in the console on the debugging window. --- The truth basks in scrutiny. http://i.imgur.com/GMouTGs.jpg http://projecteuler.net/profile/Sahuagin.png ...
