I've been working out as much as I can at home for a while now, so last night I decided to go join a gym. I'm new to gyms overall and new to like 95% of the equipment so I figured why not.

I thought it'd be full of fat people and skinny dudes trying and failing to lift over 5 lbs gorging on pizza and bagels.

Instead it's full of hot girls in little clothes and guys anywhere from beginners to decently sized dudes.

So I started a membership and got the black card for no money down and 20 bucks a month. Not only do I get a ton of great stuff to use and hot girls to talk to, I get free messages, hydromassages with a TV to watch(these things are amazing, Google them) comfortable coushes and chairs to relax, cheap drinks, all sorts of tanning things, (bed, stand, etc.) Locker, full luxury shower facilities(private individual showers) the total body enhancement thing which is awesome, some other awesome things, and my own fucking personal trainer included. All for 20 bucks a month.

I've never set foot in it, but I find the idea of serving pizza and shit like that at a health club to be moronic.

There's also that "lunk alarm" thing I remember hearing about. That's fucking stupid as shit

Not all of them are ran the same.
But generally speaking: the model promotes fitness in terms of "join and feel good". Kinda like the people who sign up on the first day of the new year, go one month and never return.

I've been to my local one and it was alright. I didn't see any pizza or lunk alarm or anything. I think some people complain about the equipment they have there, but it was ok to me. I'm just a beginner, though.

Each one is different, but for the most part they don't have enough free weights and other classic equipment. Instead there are a lot of machines and other sub optimal equipment. It caters to a different market than most people that are legitimately fit.

With that said, it's fine if you're a beginner and are willing to do a lot of your own research on fitness so that you can throw together a decent routine. It's also fine for those that just want to use elipticals and not get fat maintain a normal physique...as long as you don't eat the free food that they offer.

As already stated: lunk alarm, pizza/other food and at the PF in my town, there's no power racks/benches for powerlifting.

From my understanding free pizza is you can have a small piece or two of a square pizza once a week as a reward.

The link alarm is almost always over exaggerated by people with no self awarenesses, respect for others, and respect for the equipment/environment. Like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSVyDSxzGUQ

He's not using the machine right, playing on it like an idiot, he's openly acting like he's too good for the the place, purposely grunting loudly, and dropping weights he can't even handle.

To top it all off he has this, "oh yeah I'm too big and strong for this measly girly spa and they're gonna get scared and kick me out because my super huge muscles."
Í

Realistically yesterday aw saw a few guys about his size or a bit bigger. They weren't doing any of that crap and could actually handle those weights the guy in vid pretended they were too small and he'd go to exhaustion only to drop them after like 5 or six reps.

It's basically a beginner's gym, or people not super serious about lifting. And we all know everyone on the internet are hardcore bodybuilders so it's terrible.

I went into one to check it out and it was full of fat, nasty people. There wasn't very much equipment for actually building mass, it seemed like it was more so focused on treadmills and ellipticals. Plus whatever equipment they did have looked like cheap crap. I then signed up for Fitness Evolution, same price as Planet Shitness but so much better. An actual real gym with proper equipment for just $20 a month, or $10 if I want the basic plan. Don't know if there are any of them in your area though.

Yeah and planet fitness literally has an ad campaign that says that specifically. So?

Uhhhh, squats:

At my planet fitness you can deadlift with a certain machine like the one in the squat video. You just have to make sure to do it safely by making use of those little notches that are implemented for safety . There are also machines that do the same muscles as deadlifts.

I'd definitely rather have that and all the amazing variety, free shit, amenities, and everything else.

For the price of a personal trainer alone that you get for free at planet fitness, you easily save enough to get your own squat rack.

That guy was nowhere near the commercials. He acted like a dick and broke rules on purpose to get kicked out, so he could feel like a big strong man they couldn't handle.

I'm guessing that the planet fitness near you is just shit then tbh. Mine is basically the same as this one:

(@cleat76 squat rack and deadlifts to those who act like not having)

That doesn't show the black card area though:

Some of the equipment there is old though. My planet fitness just got New tanning beds, upgraded stand up onea, and way better hydromassage lounges:

Bump.

I don't really care if CE wants to try planet fitness again. I just want to let everyone know, especially people who are looking for a gym and have been to a bad pf before, or just heard the heard the horror stories like I did.

Planet Fitness has apparently gotten a lot better than it used to be and/or the location is very important, so it's worth checking out. Especially for the price

Smith machine squats are not the same as barbell squats. Also not sure why you're shilling this hard for pf, but more power to you I guess
