I was encouraged by the Supergirl premiere. The drama was a little tedious but at least everyone is talking about their problems like adults. We'll see if they can keep that up for a whole season.

Gifted is still good, too.

The Savitar twist last season would have been fine... if they revealed it mid-season, instead of waiting until the last 3 episodes.

But they dragged it on and on and on and on and on and on.

Lucifer was great last night. I like where they're going with this Cinnamon plot so far.

Well I watched Supergirl today.

I guess we're just going to have a dark and depressing season, huh?

I feel like Supergirl already resolved most the dark/depressing Kara in the first episode. If that's all we get of it I'm okay but we'll see.

Things I really liked:
Cat as Press Secretary and not so subtly attacking Trump.
Maggie asking J'onn to walk her down the aisle literally made me tear up.
I know nothing about Reign at all but I really liked her introduction and am interested in seeing where she goes.
Everything about Lena.

Third episode of Inhumans felt like an improvement. Or I've just appropriately lowered my expectations by now. At the very least the acting seemed better from the two that I thought were the worst so far (Gorgon and Crystal, except the "king of no one" delivery).

I agree, although the "we'll fight for your king for our king" thing with Gorgon was dumb.

Yeah, I'm very excited about a non-speedster big bad. But this first episode was kind of underwhelming imo. Wally literally lost in hand-to-hand combat to a guy with a sword and oh good, more Killer Frost drama, I'm definitely not completely sick of that storyline.

Legends was fun though.

Grant Gustin's capability for growing facial hair was easily the greatest villain The Flash has faced since season 1.

I thought Flash was good. Best part was that it looks like we're not going to have yet another "CAN YOU FIGURE OUT WHO THE VILLAIN IS BETWEEN THE 2 NEW CHARACTERS ON THE SHOW THIS YEAR?"

Legends was... okay. But I'm really tired of the team being the dumbest superhero team ever assembled. I still remember last season when Rip had the key... and Sara was like "no Jax, we can't kill him!" and then Jax didn't immediately say "Can we at least knock him out and take the key back?" They just... let him walk away with the key in hand.

Any of Curtis, Wild Dog, or Dinah could've been a tossup "impactful" death without actually changing the show's dynamics in any real way. Especially between seasons when actors can come and go more freely like Julian.

I feel like they made Team Arrow way too big. Green Arrow basically shows up with an army at this point any time he goes into battle.

(Which made it all the more ridiculous that Chase was able to do anything against Team Arrow last season. In fact the Chase/Prometheus Storyling was the worst CW comic storyline. Even worse than "It's Christmas!" on Legends, and "We're going to spend 20 episodes not telling you who savitar is, only to reveal it's who you thought it was going to be all along, and then do nothing with it.")

Oliver's team is practically the same size since like S2-3 though. They had Thea replace Roy and Laurel replace Sara for a while. Then Thea quit being a fighter and got replaced by Wild Dog while Laurel got replaced by Dinah. The only extra is Curtis since Ragman is off never being in the show again probably >_>

Flash was good.

Legends was dumb, as always.

Nah, he had to look at another book to see if history is fixed despite having a giant computer that will tell you if you so much as ask! How can he be expected to keep track of two books!?

I know we all hated Rip Hunter for trashing on the team weekly in Season 1, but now that he's not a part of them and he's on the outside calling then all a bunch of idiots, it was probably the best part of the episode because they so deserve it.

Well Flash wasn't very good. How unfortunate. Iris acting like the boss of the group instead of Cisco was a terrible idea too. Hopefully the next episode will be better. Arrow's premiere is gonna have to be really really bad to be worse than Flash's.

I feel like I'm the only one who liked flash's premier!

It was fine by me. Barry was obviously gonna get out and be his normal self again so why bother dragging it out. The complaint should be about the finale having a dumb cliff hanger, not the premiere fixing it. I still expect some side effect/consequences though. Too early to judge whether the Killer Frost thing will be bad.

Haven't seen Legends yet.

Second episode of The Gifted was pretty good. I'm really enjoying it so far. It gets a little heavy handed over the bigotry, but at the same time it still presents the opposing viewpoints in a way that's understandable, so it's not just all one-sided.

Oh god there's a description and video preview for Flash S4ep2. I will spoiler bar it here so people can decide if they want to peak or not. It doesn't spoil any villains or anything like that.

Barry and Iris go to couples therapy because they're both used to being in charge and you can't have two people in charge. The writers claim it's the funniest episode they've done for the show

-Polaris does dumb thing in her cell; everyone laughs despite the fact that only like 2 cells could've possibly seen it from that position
-Everyone stares at Polaris shower as if someone washing out hair dye is the most shocking thing ever
-Everything about that bowling scene, the nerdy white boy beatboxing his sister's "theme song" being the most offensive
-Doctor can't tell the difference between a gunshot wound and someone falling off a ladder
-Prisoner with bizarre physical deformity and electric slave collar is eating alone in prison. "What's your problem?" asks girl with green hair.
-Everyone knows a wet floor is a cop's one weakness

On a serious note, I am really actively trying to like this shwo. There's a lot I like about it, but also quite a few things about it. A few too many cliches, including the "white suburban family has their worldview slightly changed, oh no" but there is potential

I agree to some extent... maybe. Speed Force rules are weird. In the comics, that was never a thing. Also, given the fact that no one, not even Barry (until maybe this point), understands the Speed Force, it's just Iris making shots in the dark.

well no, I saw that. But in that situation, what person's first response would be to just grab the nearest gun to try to shoot up the portal?

He grabbed the gun when the portal opened out of caution, but he didn't actually aim the gun until after the one dude lit up his hands and the girl started doing her thing. To this guy, it probably looks like the mutants already attacked the guy in the truck, and now they're standing there getting ready to use their powers again, so pointing a gun in self defense sounds like a pretty reasonable response to me.

Anyone watch Riverdale?

Kinda upset at the death in it. I felt there was so much more potential in Grundy being an awful person around. Like, we all kinda hate her. Why should we care that she died after being gone for so long? So glad Archie's dad pulled through though. He's too good of a character.

I do not watch Riverdale but I just saw that its Season 2 premiere rated twice as high as its Season 1 average last night. Clearly summer Netflix binging paid off for CW on that one. Will likely end up as CW's #2 show for the week after The Flash.
