I'm going to need to watch some more trailers to decide whether I want to watch the series or not. This one just seems off to me.

I just looked up a summary of them, and it looks like they're not typical mutants/people with abilities

Yeah, they aren't. It's a big part of what I enjoy about them. Although in some ways it is a typical teen drama series.

It's mostly that I feel they chose wierd moments to showcase and I'm not sure if it's because that's the best they have, or if the trailer makers just suck.

it pisses me off that Molly is the same age as the rest of them. she's supposed to be the group's little sister. in the comics they are all in highschool while Molly is like 11 or 12. what an idiotic change

a group of kids all see each other once a year when their parents gather at a house. they have grown up hanging out on these yearly gatherings while their parents do who knows what. One year though, the kids sneak into the room their parents are in, and find out what they are up to and they catch them trying to do a human sacrifice. and then they find out that their parents are all super villains, and that most of the kids have powers of their own. they become runaways, hunted by their parents and learning about their powers.

They all have a thing they get from their parents who serve as a bunch of supervillain tropes.

Alex (the Black kid/leader) doesn't have powers but he's a genius strategist. His parents serve as the Kingpin type rich thug type.

Nico (the Japanese girl) have a magical staff inside her that comes out when she bleeds as her parents are evil sorcerers.

Molly (the little girl) is actually a mutant like her parents. Well, probably not in this show for copyright reasons.

Gert (girl with the purple hair) is mind linked with a dinosaur that her parents got from the past because they're evil time travelers.

Chase (the jock guy) also doesn't have powers but his parents are mad scientists and he use their technology to fight.

And Karolina (the blonde girl) is an alien and her parents are evil aliens disguised as famous celebrities or some shit.

Is she supposed to be the same age in the show? The actress is at least 4 years younger then the others.

I don't know. but they show her standing together with the rest and she's the same height as all of them. she looks like a teenager. but in the comics she is a preteen

the series seems like it would be dumb. it's literally based on stereotypes and tropes. but it's actually one of the most popular comic series marvel has ever done. people love Runaways.

The first volume is dope. Everything after that started slowly going downhill though. The series officially jumped the shark when Joss Whedon did his run on the team and had them going back in time to the old west and shit and nothing interesting happened.

Really enjoyed the Runaways.

And the series did a good job establishing their parents as bonafide supervillains (their group is called the Pride). There's one point where they meet the Kingpin and he states that he greatly respected them. It's also mentioned that they're the reason there isn't generally any massive supervillain activity on the west coast (most of Marvel being set near NYC).

Watched the trailer now. Little disappointed that their human sacrifice is apparently going to just disappear in a flash of light. More visceral if they actually just murder her.

I wonder if we'll actually see the Gibborim. The giant religious demon things that give the Pride their power.
