It seems as if the NFL players have lost. A number of team owners under the direct advisement of the sitting president have worked to curtail the peaceful protest of NFL players. Teams such as the Dolphins and the Cowboys have made it policy for their players to be forced to stand.
To me, someone cannot in good faith support Trump and then complaint about these protesters. Trump has... attacked Prisoners of war, fired Transsexual Troops via Social Media, attacked Gold Star families, tried to force the disabled vets who sold things on 5th ave out because he didn't like looking at them. I think it boils down to racism; I cannot see any other way possible to support Trump and complain about the players. --- Bender: Well, everybody, I just saved a turtle. Like most things in life it's not all one factor and it's being ignorant to suggest as such. No one is saying it's the sole reason. But it is a reason, and that is hurting business. People have been repeatedly surveyed on this topic and said things like this: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/sep/24/inside-the-beltway-take-a-knee-and-either-pray-or-/ As the NFL struggles to explain this seasons downturn in viewer ratings, 34 percent of American adults say they are less likely to watch an NFL game because of the growing number of protests by players on the field, the poll reports, noting that 12 percent say they are more likely to watch, while half say the protests have no effect on their viewing decisions. So, owners are absolutely 100% justified in asking players not to do things on the job that are pissing off customers and hurting business. That's what the players' free time is for. So, owners are absolutely 100% justified in asking players not to do things on the job that are pissing off customers and hurting business. That's what the players' free time is for. And the players can tell the owners to go pound salt and there's nothing they can do about it. This isn't a scenario like the NBA which has an official rule on the books. And being that the NFLPA and the league offices already have a horrible relationship, there's no way they'd allow some kind of sweeping "rule" without a legal challenge which would blow up this whole thing even worse. Owners simply cannot compel players to honor the anthem. They'd have a nightmare on their hands if they tried to argue "players kneeling is conduct detrimental to the team and therefore they are punished via ______", and the NFLPA would be salivating at the chance to wrestle more power away from the league offices. This is why the only thing that will happen is, as it already has, the networks simply won't show the anthem anymore. The league wants this to go away without any controversy, and by trying to attack it directly they are pouring more fuel on the fire. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
