Compared to Tokyo Xanadu (which I think was XSeed, Ys's former publisher), I don't see what was so wrong with Ys VIII. This just sounds like more of that, "We want a pure 1-to-1 Japanese experience from our Japanese game, even though we don't actually know Japanese."

I think it had to do with something like "Brother Adol" or "It's Your Turn, Adol Christin" kinda stuff. Hardly a problem for me.

Also, the idea that it's because they want 1-1 japanese experience is absurd, since the most prevalent problems that aren't simply a case of being blatantly wrong are a lack of editing to make them NOT sound japanese.

Basically, they come from XSEED, who does ridiculous jobs at editing (and voice direction, another one of the problems) and go to NISA, who... sucks at both of these things, like most of the industry. So it's a bigger thing than usual.
