that would put an end to all this bitching over a non issue. people say that protesting the anthem makes sports political but even playing the anthem makes it political in the first place

I'd be okay with it. Save it for international competition only like the Olympics or the World Cup.

I sincerely doubt it. There's always the "next thing" once a change has been made. Once you remove the national anthem, some group somewhere will be "energized" into going after some other thing since they think they have momentum. It'll be something like "that flag stands for our oppression of the native peoples and shouldn't be flown over stadiums"

It started nearly a century ago as a way to exploit blind patriotism to boost attendance.

The national anthem should not be seen as political. If you have a problem with your country's anthem then you should leave that country.

I mean think about the Olympics. You win the gold medal, they play your country's anthem. Do you see that as a political thing? Should people sit during their winning medal ceremony?

The military paid the NFL to have to players on the field instead of in the locker room during the national anthem.

Yes, but that was only in the last decade. The national anthem has been a staple at sporting events for much longer.

How about people just grow up and stop ruining things for being selfish. No. We don't need to get rid of them anthem. That would teach those crybabies that they won, which is wrong.

The players didn't do this back when segregation was going on, and people actually were racist. This whole police thing is just ridiculous.

And that's the bottom line, cuz southcoast said so.
If you sit for the anthem, then you sit for the game.

The fact that it's played before meaningless Browns-Chargers games in December cheapens the anthem, imo. It becomes ritual and routine, something most fans half-heartedly mouth their ways through while waiting for their minor-league sporting event to start.

I'd be ok with that. I'd also be ok with cutting it out of the school day too. Kids don't need to hear it every single day.

But, a kid sitting down for the pledge at (public) school is protected speech.

My school district did. We did the national anthem and then the pledge every single day.

Yes you're right, the cry babies that are having continuous meltdowns over people not standing for their stupid song do need to grow up and stop being selfish. You're 100% right.
