I am willing to sound like a smarty pants asshole here, but I knew what voucher meant and I expected to get one judging by the insane price of the bike. Then again, I also expected to get a free or reduced-price Porygon based off the insane amount of coins it costs.

I haven't forgotten about sports...

Astros win, yay.

The Wild are off to a rough start but I don't know enough about the team to say whether they truly suck. The Avs have started losing though. I knew their 4-1 start wasn't going to last but it took them quicker to fall back to .500 than I thought it would

Is there a trick to getting coins? I tried out the slot machines but my timing sucks

I vaguely recall a trick to getting RNG in your favor for the slots, but I don't remember. I probably just grinded it out.

Is it actually RNG? I thought it was just a matter of stopping it on the right spot, but maybe they just make it seem that way. There is another gambler who says they think the machines have different odds, which I assume was some hint that there is an easier machine, but I never found any other hints as to which one that was.

All my teams including the Astros won today so I gotta say it was a good day

I'm excited to just casually enjoy some more great baseball with two likeable teams. I'll be rooting for specific players to perform rather than a specific team

I'm like 55/45 rooting for the Astros over the Dodgers which just means that I'm not rooting hard enough that I don't want Kershaw to just destroy everyone when he pitches. Too bad he's not gonna be able to pitch against Verlander in game 1

The Nuggets got their first win tonight, but um, 0 points from Jokic? And this is after he had only 7 the first game. That's not good.

Their PGs also suck but they thought for some reason that Jameer Nelson was expendable just to get Richard Jefferson. I don't really understand the big hype over him. I think teams are overrating him because he was in the spotlight a lot with Cleveland's short playoff rotations. His regular season numbers are hardly anything at this point and the Nuggets have more depth than the Cavs.

He was pretty up and down last season from what I remember. The team and the fans seem to be putting a lot of faith into him, but he hasn't actually proven anything yet. And I don't think he even came out of college as a true point guard. I don't get it.

My understanding is they wanted to roll with Mudiay and Murray and just deal with the growing pains, but why not keep Nelson as insurance? I guess they're going trial by fire, like they knew they'd immediately bail and go to Nelson if he was around. Still, they could have kept him and either Mudiay or Murray still would have been getting a lot of minutes. I don't think Mudiay's career is going to take off at this point. He's a career 37% shooter FFS

I just remembered that Sonic Mania is fantastic, and I thought I should mention it again. Actually, I didn't just remember that, because I've been beating the game once daily for days. Tons of days? Sure. Weeks? No, that's not accurate. I'm Fair And Balanced.

I had an itch to play Space Channel 5: Part 2, but I watched a playthrough first in order to make sure my girlfriend of almost nine years wouldn't immediately leave me. Verdict?

No, no I can't play it when she's around. She could barely take the top-tier cringe at the start of FF15. I couldn't, either, so I only played it for a half hour and abandoned it. And I never buy games at full price anymore, so...

Chewy deciding he kind of liked Pokmon was a beautiful healing moment for this topic but it robbed us of our common enemy as he joined our side. I will now become your enemy.

I've been playing a little Donkey Kong Country on my SNES classic. I've played it a bunch over the years so this is an updated opinion as an adult, not a first timer thing like chewy and Pokmon. It's fucking bad you guys. The characters are too big on the screen so you don't have enough time to react to an enemy presence unless you already know they're going to be there. It's fucking insane. The little rats inside stone wheels coming for you are enormous and you have to jump on snakes you can't see to avoid them. What the fuck??? Then you got those vultures throwin seeds at you and if you want to jump on them you need to time it versus their fucking seed throws that kill you while some other shit is no doubt raining down upon you. Probably there's a series of kremlings trying to jump on you or some shit. It's also just bland compared to for example the two Mario games on the SNES classic. They're so bright and colorful and wacky in addition to being extremely tight and interesting platformers. The platforming challenges don't feel compelling to me at all, just jumping on tires and onto moving platforms.

Worst of all though? I almost can't even say it because it hurts too much, but someone has to tell the truth around here. The mine cart levels are GARBAGE!!!!!! These were my favorite levels as a kid and I was looking forward to seeing how they stacked up after finishing the lackluster first world but god damn. The challenge or the entire game is based entirely in the fact that you can't see enemies coming and the mine cart concept takes that idea to the extreme because you also are restricted to jumping as your only way to evade. It's extremely unfair. I can't imagine how bad the late gimmick levels must be.

I've been walking around acting like I've beaten this game before but now that I'm thinking on it I realize I've never finished a DKC game outside of the one on Wii because they always frustrated me too much. I had both of the first two on SNES and then on GBA and never finished either of them because I'd always get to some level that I absolutely hated. Have I been living a lie this whole time? Do I, the man who called DKC1 a fringe top 10 SNES game, actually hate Donkey Kong Country? I'm not planning on playing all the way through to see if it gets better after the first few worlds because something tells me it just becomes more and more of a bullshit game until it's over.

I'll give it props for two things though. One is the music which holds up very well, and the other is how crazy the world and everything is when you stop and think about it. Burly monkey fights burly alligators who walk on their hind legs before jumping on a giant vultures head because the vulture has stolen his bananas. Riding on other animals is kind of cool too i suppose and looks completely ridiculous.

I've secretly been a hater of DKC since the beginning. The game controls poorly to me and I've never gotten through more than a few levels before the charm wasn't enough for me to keep going. I agree with Squall's last paragraph, though. The music is great and the creative ideas they packed into the game are really cool, so there's a lot of charm to be had and it has that all-time classic feel. I just don't like the way it plays.

That's a quality rant on DKC, but you're kind of preaching to the choir here. The only thing that you might make an enemy with is that you didn't want to beat DKC2. I still maintain that's a great game and I've lamented its exclusion from the SNES Classic from the beginning. But it sounds like maybe it's been a while since you've actually played it, so who knows, maybe if you ever get around to it again you'll enjoy it. I can't really blame you for not getting far in the GBA version at least since that exacerbates the problem with the characters being too big. Overall, though, I think DKC2 has much smarter enemy placement, so you aren't always running into shit. And the first DKC also has a shit camera. I'm not sure I can think of another 2D game I've played where the camera was actually a problem.

This sucks. I can't even have one bad opinion.

I'd say I'd be willing to try DKC2 again but I don't see how that could ever happen. Switch VC I guess.

It's on Wii U VC, but I seem to remember you or Cards said you never want to hook up your Wii U again. Whether to get VC games for Wii U is a common dilemma for me, since I do still have mine hooked up, but obviously I don't want to get them if they'll be on Switch soon. However, I also don't want to wait too long and then have Nintendo kill the service. But I assume they wouldn't kill it without some kind of warning, and by that time maybe we'll know what exactly the Switch is going to get for VC.

Drew Brees is trying to play worse than Brett Hundley. Definitely a bold strategy.
